"No!" I refused.

"C'mon Kendall... For me?" Kyle asked.

He placed a fake puppy dog expression on his face.

Goddamn he was cute.

But, still no. I wouldn't fall for it.

Resist his fine ass Kendall, resist him!

"I'm sorry, but no. And why are you asking me? We have thirteen other people in our group, Kyle."

We both look over to the rest of our group. The rag tag team was stretching and warming up for our first activity. I really didn't even know why they were stretching yet. McErnest didn't even tell us what the first activity is.

"Because your opinion matters the most?" he says this like it's a question.

"Nice try."

"Kendall. Help me and I'll help you."

I thought about this for a while. He could help me with my anti-Travis project.

Honestly, I was running out of fuel. I had only caught them together that one time and it made me wonder if they only did it that once.

I needed someone to talk to about this. And someone cynical enough to give me sabotage advice. Maybe Kyle was perfect for this.

He caught me considering the possibility of us helping each other.

"See? You're thinking about it. Do it, just do it. Help a friend in need, " he said.

I quickly looked up from thought to glare at him.

"Okay, maybe not a friend. But a....umm... a teammate! That's it. Help a teammate out. If we're not all at our best then we have no chance at winning."

He made a lot of sense. But I would never tell him that.

"Okay, but only a few times. I get fed up with bullshit quickly."

He laughed. "I promise."

And for some reason when he promised me that, I felt as though I could trust him.

I sighed, resigned. "Fine."

Kyle grinned extremely wide and pulled me in for a hug. I didn't know if I wanted him to squeeze me tighter or put me down.

"Thank you so much," Kyle said excitedly.

After a while, he was still hugging me and I had to clear my throat so he could realize that I was still a woman in a relationship (unfortunately).

"Okay, so just explain to me again what this switch out will be doing for the team," I say.

"Alright. I have a job. I have a car that I need to save up for. Also, I'm prone to injury. Not that I'm clumsy, but my shit breaks fast. So, Koby will fill in for me with the physical activities and I'll be great to do the other trivia stuff. Plus, my girlfriend says I haven't had enough time for her lately."

I was sold. I was completely on board. Until I heard the g-word.

"You have a girlfriend?", I said, completely shocked.

It wasn't that Kyle wasn't attractive enough to have a girlfriend- because he was- it was just that I had a hard time picturing him with anybody.

"Don't look so surprised," Kyle said, a little defensively.

"I'm not-", I started.

"You're not the only one on the team who's in a relationship. Everything's not about you," Kyle said.
