"But you can't kill me, Lord Tyrant. I represent that one thing you've never been able to kill, no matter how hard you try. I am hope."

The Mistborn trilogy changed me for life. When I finished the last book, I cried my eyes out (and not because of deaths and stuff like that--but simply because it was so deeply moving) before I could stand up again and let the whole thing hit me.
Set in a world where the prophesized hero failed and the dark lord rules, where ash falls and plant grow brown and obscure mist creeps up at night, with Mistborns, some gifted people who are the only people who find themselves at home in the mists, it's a most masterfully crafted world, close to Harry Potter. The entire Mistborn powers are drawn from metals, and it gives slight sci-fi vibes to me, though it's definitely not in that genre. [If by any chance you like/liked the Periodic Table and inorganic Chemistry like me, you will love this even more.]
Each of the three books end with a mindblowing plot twist, impossible to predict. The characters are lovable and unique and none of them are one dimensional. You will fall in love with Kelsier's aura, Vin's simplicity, Elend's sheer goodness and Sazed's faith. And my personal favourite Ham isn't even the foremost three main characters--which again shows--the side characters are beautifully developed just like in Harry Potter.
The series is about faith in god and how people betrayed over and over learn to trust, how hard good people have to work to become good kings, how insignificant people can become heroes, of sacrifices, of letting go, of rebuilding the world that is falling to pieces in front of your eyes.
So everyone...read it. Especially if you're fond of the fantasy genre, and like Harry Potter or Hunger Games or Percy Jackson or any or them. You will love it. No one can not love the Mistborn series. Currently I'm trying to get my brother to read it, but again there's a fair warning--each of the three books are 700-800 pages in length, so I understand they are daunting to pick up, that's why my brother's delaying. But I have at least impressed upon him that it's going to be worth it.
Of that, I have no doubt. No doubt at all.
