"Ah, let's guess who could be your potential partner!"

Miku clapped her hands, and turned to me. Her eyes bright. "Look at them," she said as she pointed at the TV screen. "Beomgyu Sunbae and Violet Sunbae are having so much fun. Imagine if you got that experience too?"

It was a bright Sunday morning. Tomorrow our comeback song was supposed to drop, and I was too anxious to think about anything other than that. The company funds won't be able to keep us going for a long time. We have to make it good this comeback.

"Unnie. Aren't you listening to me!" Miku whined. I didn't want to tell her my worries, so I hugged the pillow against my chest, and went with her flow. "I just don't want any serious drama. Imagine a very very popular idol gets on the show? His fans would kill me."

Her smile flattered. "Oh yeah. I didn't think of it."

"I'm not concerned about my fans since I don't have many." I sighed. "There's a reason the company is sending me on this show. Your popularity can't be compromised with Eva's scandal."

"Do you... Do you think it'll be bad?" She asked hesitant.

"To be honest, I don't know." I shook my head. "I just hope this whole thing don't back fire. I want us to survive this, Miku. I'll try my best to make it through for all of us, but we'll have to see who's my partner to guess the outcomes further."

"Unnie. You're loved. People who can't see your potential are idiots. This is your chance to show your personality. Don't think of others. Just be your lovable self."

"Thank you." I let go off the pillow and hugged her. "You know how less I know the idols. Can you help me out with recognizing the male idols? Their names and everything?"

Miku had done MC job once during our rookie year of 2024, and knew most of the idols. I knew them too. But only by their group. If someone asked me an individual's name, then it would be over for my brain. I knew only some by their names. It could be of disadvantage if I was going on a dating show.

Embarrassment would be an understatement.

It was common though. Not knowing every idol. The popular group members could still be recognized, but not every other idol. Too many of us were here. Trying to shine. Trying to make a name. Trying to leave some kind of impact. Popular or not, you had to give your 100% to stay floating. Kpop was a competition nowadays instead of music. A bitter yet true reality.

"Okay. I can help you." Miku patted my back. She looked at the screen and pointed at the group. "That's Enhypen. The guy with blonde hair is Heesung Sunbae, the one who has mic is the leader Jungwon-" She stopped and sighed.

"What happened?" I frowned.

"Their popularity is insane. Like they're doing good, so I don't think they'll really participate in the show."

"Midnight Blues and TXT are also popular groups. Still they participated." I shrugged. "Enhypen can also, but again two groups from Hybe will be a little difficult to accomplish. Let's skip Enhypen."

"Yeah. Their fandom is toxic too," Miku mumbled. "I remember my predebut obsession with them. They had a comeback called 'Bite me', and their fandom literally went on a war because the choreography involved female dancers."

"No kidding?" My eyes widened.

"You do live under a rock." My member rolled her eyes. "It was a known thing back then. Now imagine Enhypen member going on a dating show." She laughed at the absurdity. "It would be a circus."

I blinked, feeling odd. "Yeah. Good thing Enhypen won't join then. My career would be over before it starts even." I rested my head back to the couch. "Some other idol group?"

"Oh yes. Let's go through The Boys. They have a chance to participate."

The yearly award shows were here. It was the ending ment for one of them. I bowed to the seniors standing beside us, and smiled at the crowd. We were in the back, and more popular groups were in front, but we had some space to see through. It was not even surprising. Strix had just completed three years, and the scandal had further tanked our reputation in the industry. We had a long way to go before we make it to the front. If ever.

One of the idols glanced over his shoulder and bowed to us, and I bowed back. He looked around and then shifted, asking his group to move to the side. I stared as he made a bit more space for us. We all bowed to him. He was from Enhypen. I only knew a couple of members of the group because Miku pointed some out in one of the comeback shows, so I didn't really know his name.

We performed for the first time after Eva's scandal, and the company also released a news that we were preparing for the comeback. Netizens sympathized with us. So far people were giving good response, and fans were joining us on our journey. This was our first official attendance in an award show after the scandals. Safe to say it was overwhelming.

After the ment, we all started leaving the stage one by one. I glanced back to grab Miku's hand and turned to walk front but then almost collided with someone. Enhypen Sunbae. I apologised immediately with wide eyes, and walked past them. Their fans were really possessive of them. I would rather not cause a stir by coming as an attention seeker. That term had been going around easily nowadays.

The news of album release got netizens on our side. As many as could there be after the scandal we went through. Strategy worked. People did get curious about us, and numbers were fine with the group doing good enough in different platforms. At least we were fine for now. Hopefully our comeback would be successful.

"At least the company won't disband us for now." Shua smiled brightly and did a high five with Mihi. Miki and I joined them for the group hug.

We weren't stupid, if this hadn't worked, the company would have disbanded us. No pity. There wouldn't have been enough money to keep going, but it had begun. Our journey. The news got good results, now my only wish was our comeback would get viral too.

"Hayun." The manager peeked through the practice room door. "The CEO has asked for you."

"I think congratulations are on their way." Mihi grinned, and I laughed before following him out. Ah. Finally. I could sleep in peace and not worry about tomorrow.

"Your partner is selected for the show." The manager dropped the bomb. "Maybe that's why CEO asked you to meet him. To go over do's and don'ts. It'll be alright. Don't worry. Things are finally settling in."

I took a deep breath and nodded. The manager knocked on the door, and peeked. There was a small 'come in' from the other side, and he opened the door wider. "I think he's here already." That was the only warning I got, and my smile dropped the moment I saw the person in the office besides the CEO. My partner.
