'I've participated in another show as well.'
I stared at wall. Heesung couldn't give me his number, nor I could get out of everyone's eyes. They all were watching us like a hawk. So before we parted ways, Heesung came and talked for like ten seconds. The only thing he said while looking into my eyes was that one sentence. Another show. There was a look in his eyes and I realized what he meant.
I-land.
"Unnie. You alright?" Mihi moved a hand over my eyes. "You've been watching dramas since last night. You should sleep. Shua told me you're meeting Heesung Sunbae tomorrow."
That was exactly why I watched I-land for last 20 hours without a blink of an eye. I needed to be prepared for whatever it was coming in my way. The script would be given to me, but I could always improvise if I knew about this show.
"Oh. You're watching I-land?"
"You've watched it?"
She nodded. "Of course. I was a big fan of Jake Sunbae. He was a cutie. I mean, he still is, but pre-debute hits different."
"How was Heesung Sunbae? According to you? I feel conflicted because I know everything already now. I can't judge properly."
"I understand. Heesung Sunbae. He was an ace, and I think he had a lot on his shoulders. Some Trainees took it in a wrong way, his guidance I mean. Till this date, some fans hate him for silly reasons." She shrugged. "I guess this is how netizens react to everything. Doesn't matter good or bad."
I sighed, and nodded. I slept peacefully that night. Somewhere I felt comforted that I knew at least something of the upcoming track. I dreamed of netizens hate and love. I dreamed of sunshine on my skin. I dreamed of my partner. Lee Heesung.
I dreamed of happiness.
The set was a small Café in the corner of an unknown street. The location was chosen to protect our privacy. The reality show was notorious like that. To create mystery. To create hype. Heesung had sunglasses on when he came out of the car, and I knew it was my own fault to feel inferior to him, but still he looked like a star.
Because come on, he was Lee Heesung.
We greeted each other politely, but the manager took our solo shots of smiling so that it would look we were blushing crazily. After that, we settled in the cafe and listened to today's activities.
"Arm wrestling?"
We both raised our heads, stared at each other and then glanced at the pd-nim. Was it a joke? But then he explained that Heesung was supposed to hold my hand as long as he could, just to prolong the moment. It was to create a romantic scenario. Well, I did salute the man in my mind because wow.
"There's a twist. No laughing while looking at each other."
Heesung chuckled. "That would be a tough task. I laugh easily."
"That's the point. You gotta make the other person loose. Make her laugh. Leave it to editors afterwards."
Heesung and I joined hands. "Ready to loose, Sunbae?" I asked and he opened his mouth to not look like he was laughing already. "I might not be physically strong, but I can definitely make you loose."
"I know some good jokes." He took a deep breath as the staff said 'start.' "Let me tell you a joke-"
"Oppa." I pushed his hand down just as he looked up startled and then smiled. "You lost."
"Huh?" He frowned. Everyone burst out laughing. "Ah. I smiled." He chuckled, shaking his head. Staged. No way it could have been this easy to lose. My theory was confirmed when pd-nim asked him to redo the shot. I smiled and said oppa again and he pretended to be mesmerized and the shot was done.
