"Woah. There are a lot of comments."
I murmured as soon as I came to sit beside Heeseung. The cameras were focused on us. We were on roll. I chuckled when I noticed Heeseung pulling a chair for me. I gave him a thumbs up and took my seat. He rubbed his hands, not looking even slightly mad as before. Maybe he only needed a break and good food to get in touch with his real self.
"Are you excited?" Staff asked.
"I'm nervous." I glanced at my partner. "He has a big fan following. I don't know how they'll react."
His cheeks colored. "No. No. It's gonna be fine. I'm excited to know people's reaction to our pairing. It's my first time being on a dating show, so I'm thrilled right now to be honest."
"Should we start reading?" I gave him a pat on the shoulder. "Sunbae, let's do this."
"Yes, yes hoobae." He gave me a high five in return. We acted quiet cheerful in front of the staff. I wanted people to see me as happy as I was in real life. Nothing would stop me from nailing this project, and fortunately my partner was good to me. So that was that.
"Heeseung in the dating show???? I still remember his first love story!"
I frowned visibly. "First love story? Sunbae, you said you've never dated before." I started laughing to ease the tension when he looked at me dumbfounded. "Sunbae, I would like to know about the story too."
"It was years ago when I shared it randomly. I didn't know Engene would remember this," he said, smiling towards camera. "That's scary. Once I say something, it's forever written on the wall it seems."
I nodded. "Yeah, that's that."
"I liked a friend for 3-4 years and dated her for like 3 months. It was first love. I was naive and yeah... kind of nostalgic to even think about it."
"Understandable." I hummed.
"Woah. That was some serious thought you gave there to the topic." He raised his brows. "Hayun, should I be scared of your first love?"
I shook my head. "No no. I was thinking of one friend. Not the one I dated. She had a story like yours too. I got reminded of her for some reason. I don't even know why."
Heeseung lowered his head to look into my eyes. "Story like mine?"
I shrugged. "She liked someone for years, like from childhood and he wasn't aware of her feelings and then they got together..." I stopped, noticing the pin drop silence. "Wait, I'm sorry for blabbering! I didn't... I forgot the camera."
I looked around panicked. Heeseung was staring at me differently. "I'm really sorry. I went off the script and I..."
"No. I'm invested." Heeseung smiled strangely. "What happened to them?"
"I... I don't know actually. She left for abroad. I never knew her boyfriend. I didn't get a chance to meet him." I bowed my head. "She didn't stay in touch. Not that I blame her. I wasn't super talkative person or popular among my peers, so yeah."
"Guys, carry on with the questions." Staff reminded us.
I nodded. Heeseung was still staring at me as I ran a hand down my face and forced a smile on my face. "Sunbae, look at the screen," I mumbled, giving his knee a slight push.
Heeseung cleared his throat. "Heeseung oppa, you better treat my Hayun right. She's a cinnamon ball! I'll fight for you, Hayun unnie, cheer up!" He read the question aloud. "Woah, that looks like a real threat."
"I find this sweet," I cooed. I never expected this comment. Someone was actually rooting for me. I read the next question, "Can't wait to see Heeseung flirting with Hayun, and Engene losing their minds. Lol!!!"
