I brought his hands up to my lips and gently kissed each of his knuckles, coming to the promise ring that was identical to mine. Engraved on the inside was the phrase "We'll Stay Forever" in cursive letters. Both of us vowed to make them engagement rings the day I walked back through our front door.
"Staff Sergeant Fuentes," he whispered. His tear filled gaze brushed over my uniform and stopped right below my face. It hurt me so much to know he couldn't look me in the eyes. It hurt me to leave, to see him cry, to walk off our front porch. Everything hurt so, so bad.
"Kells, baby look at me. It'll be okay." I reached up and nudged his chin so my chocolate brown eyes met his currently sad and lifeless grey ones, which seemed to change according to his mood. Right now they matched the color of the rain clouds hovering over most of Michigan.
I brushed away the few tears that trailed down his cheeks as my own threatened to fall as well. "You'll have Justin, and Jack, and Gabe, and Nick. And you and I both know you'll have your hands full with Tony and Jaime. I don't know what they'll do without me so you'll have to take my place as cop slash guardian slash parent slash bro slash... whatever the hell those idiots need."
At that we both chuckled. He and I both knew I was joking, sort of.
"Time will fly, babe. Faster than you can say your own name." He nodded and looked around the airport hall. Apparently searching for the clock, he then muttered something under his breath that I didn't quite catch.
"What did you-" I was cut off by the grand clock sounding 4. Kellin inhaled sharply and looked up at me with panic in his eyes. He whimpered and buried his head in my chest.
His silent sobs progressed into violent shaking and I knew I had to walk away from him but I couldn't. I didn't know how.
"Victor Vincent Fuentes. You will come back to me. You understand me?" He pulled away only a little, straightened out my uniform, and stroked away my falling tears.
His touch was the only reason I hadn't completely fallen apart yet, but even that was diminished when he whispered "I love you."
"No. No, no. I can't do it. I won't leave you." My arms wrapped around his waist and pulled him closer. The entire world didn't exist right now. It was only us.
"You have to, baby. Please. Do it for you. For both of us." The places were being switched as he was pulling himself together and I was losing it.
He pressed his lips to mine and quickly deepened the kiss. Instantly I was just that little bit calmer while being this close to him. I won't survive the military again. Not this time. Not knowing I have Kellin waiting for me here at home.
He pulled away again but gently pushed his forehead to mine. I whimpered softly as I realized what I was about to do.
"I can't leave you Kells. You're my everything. I love you."
"And I love you. You can do this Vic. You'll come back to me. Just bring him back too, okay? Bring him home."

New story! I'm super pumped for this idea tbh. Give me some feedback on what you think! Please put this in your library and vote for it too if you want! I'd really appreciate it!
I'm a slow writer and I get writers block so I'm afraid this story may have slow updates, I'm sorry! And any ideas for a cover? If you guys could point me in any directions to someone who could make one for me that would be delightful.
As always, love you my gorgeous turtles!
