The Aureate Crook.

The one I promised to stop chasing was here, at the apple stand just feet away from me. And not just standing there, they were stealing apples by shoving them into their duffle bag. Typical. This wasn't the first occurrence where I caught them stealing from this fruit stand, in the past I would have rushed in. But now things are different. I had promised Mama I wouldn't chase after the aureate crook ever again. I clenched my feather necklace, and words from my late father who gave me the necklace overwhelmed my thoughts.

"Fern, when you witness something wrong, always try to stop it."

"Fern, if you see something you know is bad don't stand by."

"Fern do right."

"Fern."

Yes, I should do what I believe is right, which is stopping this crime I'm witnessing in front of me. I let go of my grip on the feather necklace and ran towards the aureate crook. This would be the last time they ever wronged my village.

I began to run towards the aureate crook who didnt notice me at first and continued stealing.

"Stop!" I yelled running straight at them, the crook than turned their head after hearing me. I knocked straight into them knocking them to the floor, apples spilled all out of their bag all over the ground. I had them pinned! I held them down, they struggled immensely, but being almost twice my size it was difficult to hold them down. Before I knew it I lost my strength and they turned me over now pinning me to the ground I grunted as I tried to fight them off.

"HEY!" an officer yelled running towards us finally someone to help me arrest the crook! The officer pulled them off of me, and pulled me up as well.

"Thank you officer they were stealing-"

"I don't want to hear it out of either of you 're both under arrest' 'the officer yelled holding both me and the aureate crook, and I went into shock.

Me?

In trouble? For what?!

"Wait wait you dont understand I didn't do anything!" I yelped trying to explain myself to the officer. He laughed, LAUGHED after I said that with a look on his face that sent me into confusion.

"You think I don't know what you're trying to pull?" He said sternly looking at both of us. From afar I heard the jail wagon approaching this cannot be happening. Next to me the aureate crook just stood their expressionless, it was heard to tell if they did have any expression due to their mask but still they said nothing. While me on the other hand was in a state of shock and trying to explain myself. Soon other people in the village noticed what was going on and came outside to see what was happening. As the jail wagon got closer the officer cuffed my hands behind my back.

"You have to listen to me, I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING!" I pleaded, turning my head back to the officer while they cuffed the aureate crook. Soon I saw Dr.Blanche and Holly watching from afar, and when they noticed me Dr.Blanche ran up to us.

"Hey there listen to her I know this girl and she wouldnt do anything." Dr.Blanche said making tense eye contact with the officer. He blew her off and turned to open the jail wagon doors. She stood in his way, her face almost red he grunted pushing her out of the way.

"Listen Lady these two are part of an organized crime, why don't you get outta the way?" He yelled, turning around to grab the aureate crook by the handcuffs and leading them into the jail wagon. They stopped struggling, and stepped up into the wagon till from afar came a yell.

"Stop! Stop, that's my sister, she didn't do anything!" yelled Robin running over to the wagon. I turned my head in shock Robin? Wait, Robin was the aureate crook's brother?! And the aureate crook was the sister he had mentioned who needed the rosemary. More shock filled me before I knew it I was being pulled into the wagon. The officers put their hands on my head to prevent me from bumping it. The shock I was feeling made everything hazy. The guard pushed me in and the impact from the wooden floorboard made me dizzy. All I could hear was Robin and Dr.Blanches yelling, I couldn't see anything either, just some blurs of faces till the jail wagon's doors slammed shut.

Leaving me in darkness.

Just me and the aureate crook headed off to prison.
