Suddenly I woke up from the sound of many voices surrounding me. Ugh what had happened? The memories of what just occurred, with the log crushing me came back to me filling me with frustration. I had let the figure get away again! For years in my village they have been stealing from shops, from food to gold they have stolen from at least every stand my village has to offer! The first time I had encountered this thief was 7 years ago. I was 11 years old helping out at a family friend's bakery named Mr. Koi, whose business had been really picking up and had been needing a few more hands in the kitchen. Being the good elf I am unlike some, I gladly accepted and started helping around the bakery in little ways. Sweeping the floors, cleaning the windows, and my favorite was handing out free samples. The matcha puffs are my most beloved pastry, and everything was well until one day a person with a mask where you could only see their golden eyes approached the bakery. I didn't suspect them of being bad. I mean just because they were covering their face with a mask and wearing a hooded cloak does not make them suspicious. Maybe they were avoiding getting a sunburn? As they approached I was sweeping minding my own business till they pulled out a dagger on Mr. Koi. At the time as an 11 year old I was petrified, for in my little village the worst crime there was littering, nothing like this ever occurred. Maybe if Mr. Koi was strong enough to stand up for himself he could have resisted, but as a 4 '11 mouse he just handed over the money jar. The thief then snatched it out of his hands and bolted out the door, but then something inside just clicked making my feet move. I hopped over the counter, and ran after them. I didn't get far, but that is what began my chase to stop the town thief. Or as I call them the aureate crook. Since then for the past 7 years every time they appear I try to catch them, but I've never been successful. This has been the closest I've ever gotten. The aching in my body from the log rolling like I was dough and it was a rolling pin came back. Bringing me back from my remembrance of my origin with the aureate crook. Mr. Koi's voice filled my thoughts. He pushed me up against a tree sitting me up against the trunk.

"Fern are you alright, you got cuts and bruises all over you." Mr Koi said worry glimmered in his eyes.

My head nodded down seeing the cuts and bruises on my arms and legs, I've got at least 20 splinters. Next to Mr. Koi was our village medicine apprentice Holly. She was very shy, if you imagined the word 'delicate' as a person its Holly. Her baby blues eyes matched her pale skin and baby pink hair perfectly. Holly reached into her medic bag pulling out white bandages, and some vials. She crouched down and began rubbing the liquid from the vial onto my cuts and bandaged me up.

"A-are you able to walk?" Holly muttered collecting her stuff. I nodded my head as I grabbed onto Mr. Koi using him to pull myself up. I wobbled some steps of the path my legs began aching with pain.

"It's okay– you don't have to push yourself, Fren." Holly skittishly said.

"I'm as fit as a fiddle- '' I declared in a daze before I fell to the ground, the earth beneath my head, the green grass being nature's pillow. Guess maybe I may have hit my head on the way down. It's alright just one more nap before I continue my adventure.
