No! Where are you going! A pale gray she-cat ran after the Twoleg Monster along the Thunderpath. You forgot me! She thought as she ran as fast as she could. Her pads burned from how hard she was hitting them against the ground. She gasped as the Monster turned and quickly left her eyesight. They left her behind. The she-cat stopped running. There was no point in going after it now. She turned around and headed back toward her house. Her pads burned with every step she took, but she didn't pay attention to this. She was too upset that her Twolegs left her. Was I not a good cat? Did they not love me? She thought as she made her way home. Perhaps they found a better cat. Her thoughts were interrupted by a meow. "Hey, Bumblebee!" She turned around to find a brown tabby tom. "Oh, hello Chestnut." She murmured. Chestnut was one of the cats in the Twolegplace. One of the more friendlier ones, and one of the ones that Bumblebee was the closest with. Bumblebee and Chestnut had grown up together and lived next to each other their whole life. Chestnut tilted their head to the side, "What's wrong? You don't seem so happy today.".
"My Twolegs are gone." She meowed solemnly.
"But they always leave! What's different about it today?"
"Their den is empty, Chestnut. They left me behind!"
Chestnut gasped. "But..they couldn't have! Why would they do that?" "I wish I could answer that." Bumblebee mewed as her friend shook his head in disbelief. "Where will you live? Who will feed you?" Chestnut asked after a moment. "I don't know. But I know it isn't here." She meowed as she started walking again. Chestnut ran forward to walk beside her. "Maybe you could live with me. I'm sure my Twolegs wouldn't mind.". "Thanks Chestnut, but I think I might try living on my own. You know, catch my own food and live in the forest. Besides, your young Twolegs are way too loud. They hurt my ears!" She flattened her ears just thinking about Chestnut's loud and annoying Twolegs. They would always wake her up during her naps and would be throwing things into her garden, scaring the fur off her skin whenever she was out there. "The forest? Won't that be dangerous?" Chesnut's eyes were wide as he spoke. "Yeah, I guess. But I'm not scared." She meowed puffing her chest out. She looked at Chestnut and saw he was still staring at her with huge eyes. "Don't worry, old friend. I'll be fine. And I'll come visit when I can." She reassured him, licking their ear.
The two cats were silent as they reached the edge of the Twolegplace, looking into the forest. "I'll miss you, Bumblebee." Chestnut mewed in an almost whisper. Bumblebee touched noses with her friend. "I miss you too. And like I said I'll try to visit whenever I'm settled. I promise.". Chestnut let a purr of happiness out. "You better! Or else I'll have to come find you!" He joked. Bumblebee let a snort out. "You? In the forest? I'll believe it when hedgehogs fly!." Chestnut gave Bumblebee a lick of the ear and pushed his muzzle into her fur for a moment before backing toward the Twoleg gardens. "I'll let you go now. But if you can't find a home in their, mine is always open! Goodbye Bumblebee." "Goodbye Chestnut." Bumblebee watched Chestnut as they left her eyesight and turned towards the forest. She told Chestnut she wasn't scared. But she definitely was. She had no idea what was in the forest. Or who was in the forest. But she knew she had to find a home.
