>>Enri

I sat in the balcony of my mother's room, waiting for her to come to me.

It felt a little weird, to wait for her here even though when I was little, it was something I used to do a lot.

"Enri!" My mother opened the door and came running in, "You're here!?" She looked around, unable to find me in the room.

"I'm here," I raised my hand up and waved it, "In the balcony."

"Oh!" She smiled and came over.

"Have a seat," I gestured for her to sit down on the built-in balcony bench while I was sat on the floor. She walked over and took her seat.

"I didn't think you'd come home that fast." She seemd happy.

"Yea," I scratched the left side of my neck with my right hand, "I didn't either..." I sighed softly and looked at the ground.

"What's bothering you?" She asked

I looked up at the sky, "I'm a little troubled about something," I turned my head toward her, "I needed someone to talk to,"

"And you didn't want to talk with your knights?"

I scoffed at her statement, "With them?" I shook my head, "Never," I smirked, "They'd tease me to hell, if I asked them for advice."

She giggled, "They sure love you,"

"Yea, well," I smiled, "I'm a great man." She giggled at my words and then it went quiet between us.

"Are you worried about that girl you like?" She asked and my eyes went wide.

!!!

I looked at her in surprise, "How do you know?"

Her face lit up, "I'm still your mother," She placed her hand on my head, "And I still do my best to understand you,"

Her words made my heart swell up with warmth and I placed my head on her lap.

"I see..."

She ran her fingers through my hair, calming me down, relaxing me like no one else had for years.

"That girl you like," She started, "It's that siren woman, isn't she?"

!!!

She was still running her hands on my head when I broke away and look at her face in disbelief, "How do you know that?"

She chuckled at me, "Apparently, it's the talk of the town,"

I raised my brows at her, "What? The siren?"

"And that you're always with her." She looked at me with a mischievous look.

My mouth remained agape and I slowly placed my head back on her lap as I thought about some things, "I see..." Then a smile spread across my face, "That's right," I affirmed, "I like her," I paused, "Mom?"

"Hmm?"

"Did you ever mind the age gap between you and dad?"

"Never," She replied.

"Never?" I was a little surprised at her answer.

"Women like to be the younger one, because they like to remain beautiful for their man as long as possible."

Oh!

That actually made so much sense...

I was hesitant about the age gap because of my mom. After all, my mom and dad shared one and they were a hellish couple. But the difference here is that mom and dad had a political marraige. It was an obligiation for them, the age gap wasn't the main problem.

"I see..."

Mom didn't want dad but Mavis wants to be with me. Even mom didn't mind the age gap since it's considered normal and Mavis doesn't either. The real problem there was my father, who never cared about the opinions of his family but I've always tried my best to hear people out.

"Are you worried that you're a lot older than the siren girl?"

"Well," I replied, "Yes," I answered, "Her name is Mavis,"

"It's a pretty name," She kept running her fingers through my hair, "And does she like you?"

"Yes," I replied, "She confessed but I couldn't accept her feelings then."

"Then?" She focused on my words, "So now you've realized you like her?"

"...." I felt like my lips were dry so I licked them, "Am I too late?"

"Well," She let out an exhale, "From the gossip it doesn't seem so," She moved her hand to my cheek, "What do you think?"

I raised my head and looked at her, "Well, she did say she wanted to keep liking me..."

My mother chuckled, "How about you bring her along the next time you visit?

"Sorry, it took me some time," Leonidas apologized, "But with this, you're going to be a duke!" He beamed a smile at me while we both stood in his study.

But I was confused, "Why suddenly...?" I looked at him in disbelief.

"What do you mean suddenly?" He chuckled, "I always meant to give you a title!"

"Always?" It felt like a dream.

"Always," He grabbed the royal document which allotted my title to me. It had the royal seal stamped on it along with his signature. It was already done.

"Why now?" I asked, still confused, "You've been The King for a while now,"

"Well," He seemed a little ashamed, "I got a little sidetracked with all the new responsibilities and marriage and stuff, it sort of slipped my mind..." He was embarrassed of himself, "Sorry,"

I let out a subtle snickered at his words, "Then what made you remember?" I took the document from him.

He looked at me, "The fact that I want you to seattle down now." He passed me a brotherly smile, "I want you to be happy!"

My eyes went wide at his words

The things that could cause me problems, the one's I was afraid of, aren't really there anymore. All the things that disturbed me, they've been solved. Especially now that I've also been given a title.

It almost felt like the whole world was on my side and was pushing me towards that one specific thing.

I rolled the document and felt a surge of emotions.

So what am I waiting for now?
