>>Enri

I stood outside the room hearing everything. Even though I didn't want to, I heard everything since Mavis was screaming for the most part. And because I heard that, so many things began to make sense.

I understood everything that happened with Sorin, how she suddenly changed and then had to leave. And that name, Elayne, I guess it was hers in her other life, in that other world.

There was a war in the first timeline? I wonder who and how many died... So Sorin saved the lives of millions because she changed some things. Is that why she was so insistent on taking the demon lord of the dungeon then?

I looked up at the sky and let out a sigh. This all sounds so unreal but of course, it's real to the people who remember...

The steam came out of my mouth as I exhaled and disappeared a second later.

I guess this is what the Oracle meant when she talked about me helping out Sorin. I helped her out even after knowing she's a demon and Mavis is a Siren. That's the only similarity there is between them. They're both non-humans. And well, both of them have a small frame.

...

A siren huh...

Sirens are rarely seen though.

Her mother isn't one. I'm pretty positive about that. Since the day I brought Mavis here, she hasn't gone to sell the pearls. I might be wrong and it's just a hunch for now...

The only way to confirm this is through Mavis but she doesn't know I know about her little secret.

There was a slight commotion in the room and I felt like I should create some distance and began to walk towards the corridor stairs when the door suddenly burst open.

It made me flinch and look back at the person who stormed out.

Mavis was still furious but the moment she burst out and took a deep breath, her eyes landed on me, who wasn't much far away from her.

...

Shit

I should have moved away quicker.

>>Mavis

I looked at Enri, who was by the stairs, looking back at me with a bewildered look.

As soon as I saw him, I felt like I had been exposed. I had a pretty angry expression when I stomped my way out!

Shit!

I controlled my expressions and tried to smile but at the moment that was impossible.

Wait- something crossed my mind and I looked where he was and then at the door.

Could he have heard anything?

He straightened up and walked toward me, "Are you done?" The way he was casually talking to me didn't show that he had heard anything, "Do you want to go back to the training ground with me?"

...

I nodded, "Yea," My anger subsided a little after staring at his face for some reason and we began to make our way back

Neither of us said much during our walk back. My head was mostly filled with things like how I had to accept my fate now. If I could I wanted to go back to the modern world but the spell is a taboo to begin with.

There is no way for me to go back and I have to live my life here.

I let out a devastated sigh.

Enri said he'd be getting a restraining order against mom but I wonder if that'll work. On our way back that night, he said if I asked for it, they can put her in jail too because what she did is a serious crime.

I should solve this problem first, right? I know she's my mom and until the day dad was alive she was a great mother...

Now, I don't know what she's become.

I massaged my temples as we got closer to the training area. There was just so much I had to solve at the moment and I think Enri noticed that I had a lot on my mind.

"So," When he started speaking, I automatically dropped every other thought and looked at him, "What does Mavis mean?" We were about to reach the training grounds.

His question was so random it made me pause and look at him, then I giggled. I guess he's trying to make small talk. I must have been frowning a lot in front of him...

"A songbird," I replied as we reached the entrance.

"Oh?" He seemed sort of pleased as he passed me a toothy smile, "Then, can you sing?" His smile sent a wave of happiness in my heart and I realized how warm he feels.

I nodded, "Yes..." He's trying to cheer me up. I smiled. From the start, he's been trying to help me out. He's not obliged to, yet he's doing it for my sake.

"Enri?" I called out his name as I felt all my anger from before fading away.

"Yes?" We stopped near the entrance after going into the training area where the other knights were doing their thing.

"Thank you..." I said softly but he heard it. I felt like this was necessary. It would be rude of me not to say it.

He smiled and took a step closer to me, "It's my pleasure," He gently patted my head and my heart skipped a beat. Then when he caressed my hair, I felt all nervous and giddy, "You can come to me whenever you need help." His words made me want him. I wanted to run into his arms and hug him.

!!!

And when I had such clear thoughts I came to another realization. I didn't just admire him for being my savior...

I can't believe I didn't realize it right from the start when I was feeling all this from almost the beginning. The warm and bubbly feeling that swells up inside me whenever he's near-

I raised my head to look at him as a blush appeared on my face. My heart pounded as the realization made me embarrassed all of the sudden.

It was love.

I looked at him feeling shyer than I usually do. It's because of him that I was able to ignore everything else. It's because I had these feelings and he was mostly around that everything else was in the background.

Because I have fallen in love with him!!
