Intolerant safety.

(tw: beaten up, Garroth said a mean thing about Zane being in the closet)

Ships: Garrence, Zanvis.

**following starlight**

"Garroth you're lactose intolerant, stop drinking all of the milk"

"Argh who said that I was lactose intolerant baby brother"

"You're a werewolf Garroth it's a werewolf thing!"

Zane and Garroth's closer bond, as brothers, disbanded meer weeks after their return from starlight wonderland.

Following Zane and KC's very messy breakup Zane had become rather irritable.

Everything that Garroth did seemed to upset Zane, almost all their conversations ended in screaming matches and Laurence was absolutely sick of it.

The brunette never involved himself in their arguments finding that they were rather silly most of the time.

"How do you even know it's me drinking all the milk, it could be Laurence or oh I don't know Travis you've invited him over every day this week" Garroth rolled his eyes.

Laurence and Travis locked eyes from the sofa not happy about the fact they were mentioned.

"Hey don't involve us" Laurence groaned, pausing the TV as there was no chance they would be able to hear it anyway over all the yelling.

"Really Garroth blaming your boyfriend for stuff that you did is so low" Zane scolded.

"Yeah?...yeah well at least I can admit that he's my boyfriend you've forced yourself so far into the closet you probably don't even realize that you and Travis are basically a couple".

Zane's eyes widened, his angered expression replaced with a hurt one.

Garroth opened his mouth to apologise for taking their fight too far but Zane slammed the empty carton of milk that he'd been waving around onto the kitchen counter storming out of the house with tears welling in his eyes.

"Z-Zane...I'm sorry" Garroth yelled, feeling really horrible about what he'd said.

Laurence stood up and walked over to Garroth softly placing his hand on the side of Garroths face.

"Give him some space" Laurence ordered bluntly removing his hand, going back to the sofa and turning the movie back on.

"Yeah...space" Garroth mumbled to himself before moving to sit with Laurence and Travis.

Zane had ended up at the end of the street, with a sad and slightly annoyed sigh he ripped the mask off of his face, and crying he slammed himself down onto a nearby bench slightly hyperventilating.

With a loud broken sob, Zane rubbed his right hand on his chest slowly in circles, trying to calm himself down.

The truth is that Zane was well aware of his feelings for Travis, feeling that scared and confused him, he knew it was wrong to take his feelings out of Garroth yet he knew that he could.

It was safe for him to feel things without risking losing Garroth, to him Garroth was safe.

The fight that had led to Zane ending up on a bench wasn't their first of the week or even the day and it was this was one of the rare ones that Zane thought was justified as Garroth had been poisoning himself.

What Garroth had said was mean and Zane saw it as out of line but he saw why Garroth had snapped at him, if you bend something enough it's bound to break.

Zane relaxed enough to breathe and stop crying so he put his mask back on, readying himself to head back home, it was dark out after all.

Zane got close enough to home that he could see it, only three houses down, when he bumped into someone.

"Oi, watch where you're going freak" the man slurred.

"S-sorry" stuttered Zane who just wanted to go home, something about the man felt off, dangerous.

"What are you stuttering for, speak properly" the man grunted.

Zane attempted to push past the guy who grabbed his wrist tightly, stopping him.

"Where do you think you're going, apologise properly" the man ordered strengthening the grip on Zane's wrist.

"Sorry" Zane gulped feeling very unsafe.

The man sighed punching Zane in the face with a roll of the eyes.

"Learn your place, freak" the man barked kneeing Zane in the stomach.

Zane went to say sorry again but the man's clenched fight collided with his nose.

With an aggressive smirk, the man ripped off Zane's blood-soaked mask, walking away after a few more hits and punches.

A shuttering breath passed Zane's lips as the metallic taste of blood filled his mouth.

Surprised that he was still standing Zane spat out blood, taking four shuffled steps before scaling himself down the fence of the house he was in front of, Lucinda's house.

"H-Help" Zane tried to yell, forgetting that Lucinda wasn't home, she and Kim were on a holiday.

Zane's vision blurred as he slowly passed out giving into the darkness, falling limp against the fence.

"It's been almost an hour I'm going to go find him" Garroth announced.

"I-if I told you not to go looking for him you'd do it anyway so take your phone with you"

Laurence bargained.

Garroth nodded snatching his phone off the counter his eyes catching Zane's phone.

With a guilty sigh, Garroth pocketed Zane's phone leaving out the door in search of his brother.

The blonde forced himself to hide his ears and tail as he walked down the driveway.

Garroth hadn't really had a plan on how he was going to find Zane when he left he'd planned to just walk down the street in hopes of finding him, which on fairness he did, just not in the way he wanted to.

Garroth ran up to the unconscious form of his little brother, scooping him into his arms, Zane's face covered in blood.

"Z-zane?" Stutterd Garroth terrified that Zane wasn't waking up as he gently shook him.

"Laurence!" Garroth screamed out for his boyfriend who was three houses down.

Garroth moved Zane's hair back in his eye the way he liked it.

"Z-zane wake up" Garroth begged, slowly rocking Zane as he held him in his arms.

"LAURENCE!" Garroth's broken voice yelled out, this time with a response as Laurence ran down the street Travis not far behind.

"Garroth?" Laurence questioned before noticing Zane covered in blood in his lover's arms.

Laurence froze in place eyes fixed on the sight in front of him the world moved slower as Travis kneeled down to the brothers' level cheeking at Zane's pulse.

"-arence" Travis yelled breaking Laurence from his trance-like state.

"Laurence call an ambulance" Travis ordered.

Laurence didn't remember calling an ambulance, he didn't remember it arriving, and he remembered none of his actions that lead to him holding a sobbing Garroth in his arms.

Garroth was so upset that at some point he stopped hiding his ears and tail.

"Love?, come on Travis is going to drive us to the Hospital" Laurence sighed sadly, leading Garroth towards their house, as Zane was taken to the hospital.
