Garroth and Zane one shots

Garroth and Laurence started dating shortly after everyone returned from the Lodge.

Laurence was filled in on the events from the Lodge excluding the whole Aaron being the Ultuma Werewolf thing.

Zane struggled a lot after coming out from Ein's mind control, parts of him felt like his mind was no longer his own.

The relationship between Garoth and Zane had certainly started to improve but both brothers were dealing with their own inner struggles.

Zane had just started a new anti-depression medication as the old one had caused many emotional outbursts and a general constant feeling of sluggishness.

It was Zane's attempt that really brought attention to the true severity of the Younger Ro'meave brother's mental decline.

Zane's depression was diagnosed rather quickly but his acceptance of it took longer.

Garroth on the other hand had to see multiple doctors and psychologists before he got his diagnosis of generalised anxiety disorder and ADHD.

"Shh" Laurence hushed Zane when he appeared at the foot of the stairs,

Garroth had fallen asleep mid-way though his and Laurence's weekly movie night.

"He has to wake up anyway...hasn't taken his meds".

"Oh shit" Laurence swore looking at the 9 pm written on his phone.

Zane walked into the joint kitchen grabbed Garroth's med box and water bottle handing to to Laurence from over the back of the sofa.

"Thanks".

Laurence nudged Garroth awake trying to be careful about it.

"Sorry love, meds" Laurence gave Garroth his stuff as the elder opened his eyes with a groan.

Groggy from sleep Garroth took his medication before collapsing against Laurence with a sigh, not happy about being awake.

"Can I stay with you too" Zane asked anxiously.

Zane'd started trying to be near others more.

"Of course Puppy do you want to just sit with us or do you want to be here with us?"

Garroth asked.

Puppy was a childhood nickname only Garroth called Zane,

the nickname only recently returning.

"I want to be here" Zane specified.

After the boundaries talk at the Lodge Garroth began asking Zane what level of involvement he wanted in social situations, asking him if he wanted to be with them or be there.

Zane Very rarely asked to be fully involved in Garroth and Laurence's movie time so it had been a clear indication that Zane had something going on in his head.

Garroth and Laurence made room for the younger to sit between them.

"Want to talk about what's going on in there?",

Laurence offered throwing a blanket over zane.

Zane and Laurence had grown closer after Laurence started teaching Zane Spanish.

"Started doing the mirror thing again, wanted a distraction".

Garroth was a senior year in highschool when he first caught Zane staring at his full-length mirror mumbling about all the things he hated about his reflection, about himself.

The 'mirror thing' became a sadly common this as the years went on.

"Aww Puppy" Garroth filled Zane's now shoulder-length hair,

Despite the fact Zane wasn't a fan of Garroth messing with his hair he leaned closer to his big brother.

"We really need to get you into a barber, you need a hair cut" chuckled Garroth.

"No, I like it long, want it longer".

Zane'd always wanted to grow his hair out, but he knew what Garte would say.

"Want Hot Chocolate?" Laurence offered, Gaining a swift nod.

Laurence went to get up to go make the drinks only to be pulled back down.

"Where are you going?" Zane questioned.

"To make the drinks?".

"Nu, stay just order it" Zane demanded.

Garroth and Laurence shared a glance.

"Okay," Laurence shrugged.

"Have you spoken to Carla about the mirror thing yet?" Garroth asked,

Carla was Zane's therapist.

"I...yeah" Zane buried his head into Garroth's side.

"What does she say about it?".

"What he and Carla talk about's privet love" Laurence reminded.

Weary of the questions possibly pushing Zane's boundaries.

"Sorry, Puppy you don't have to answer" Garroth smiled down at Zane.

"It's fine, she reckons I need to try to get to the bottom of why I do the mirror thing before I can stop doing it...we've been talking about gender identity" Zane explained without thought.

Zane took a bit to understand that he'd just admitted to questioning whether or not he was well a 'he'.

"Do you think that's the reason you do it? your gender identity?" Garroth asked trying to be clear there was no judgment.

"I, I think so, Travis said he'd done a similar thing before he transitioned".

"Okay, well I love you, and I'm happy you felt comfortable telling us",

Garroth smiled.

Two weeks and three Carla sessions later Zane had found the pronouns they felt comfortable with They/Them, but they hadn't told anyone yet.

There'd been plenty of opportunities to tell Laurence and Garroth but they kept getting in their head about it.

Both Garroth and Laurence openly supported every member of the LGBTQIA+

Community but for whatever reason Zane still feared rejection.

It was one of those nights when Garroth woke everyone up screaming,

These nights were rare but rough.

Laurence being the loving boyfriend he is would try to comfort garroth but only Zane could calm him down.

The days following one of Garroth's nightmares were household-wide lazy days.

"So what's going on in the world of Zane?" Garroth asked lifting an eyebrow while shuffling uno cards.

'This is it' zane thought to themself, time to tell them.

"I figured out all that stuff we spoke about a few days ago... I'm non-binary,

They/Them...woo" Zane did small awkward jazz hands as they announced their pronouns to try hide their nerves.

"K, name?" Laurence asked exhausted from dealing with a freaked-out Garroth the night before.

"Still Zane, I haven't found a new one that fit's ya know".

"Okay just let us know when you do Puppy".

Garroth grinned glad that Zane was comfortable enough to be their true self around them.
