Third POV

Thompson and Thomson walked down the street with a mission in mind. They had to speak with a very specific man.

They spotted him walking ahead of them, heading toward them. The man saw them and only picked up speed with he saw them, making them pick up speed in return. The man turned and quickly tried to open his apartment door.

However, Thomas and Thompson had caught up with him. "Mr. Silk?" They both called out to the man.

He gasped and turned quickly, putting his back to the wall. "Yes?" He asked, trying not to seem suspicious.

"My name is Thompson." "And Thomson." They both introduced themselves. "We're police officers." They added together.

Oh...Oh, crumbs." Mr. Silk exhaled, he quickly push in between the men to try and get away, only to run into an older lady carrying a birdcage.

"Mr. Silk!" Thompson and Thomson exclaimed, running over to help him up. The birds escaped and flew around his head as he sat up, disoriented.

The twins helped him to stand while the pet store owner came out and helped the older woman. "Thank you, very kind." Mr. Silk said, hoping to get away still.

"No need to run away, sir." Thompson said.

"No, no, you see... Yesterday, we very nearly caught the pickpocket who's been terrorizing the town." Thomson explained, leading him back toward his apartment door.

"Pickpocket?" Mr. Silk inquired.

"We pulled his jacket off and inside we found a wallet." Thompson said. "A wallet with your name and address." Thomson added as Thompson pulled a leather wallet from his pocket.

"That's my wallet." Mr. Silk exclaimed, seeing it.

"Well, it's obvious he stole it from you." Thompson said, holding it up.

"No no, that's my wallet!" He exclaimed again, ripping it out of Thompson's hand.

"Are you all right?" Thomson asked him. "We didn't mean to startle you." Thompson continued.

"Let us help you into your apartment." Thomson said, watching as Mr. Silk finally got his door open. They walked him up the stairs and to his door.

"There you go." Thompson said and he watched him open his door.

"Thank you so much. No need to come in. I'll be quite all right." Mr. Silk insisted, trying to close the door on them so they couldn't come in or see anything.

"No, but we insist." Thomson said. "Better safe than sorry. It's the least we can do." Thompson followed up.

They walked him a few steps inside and helped him sit in his chair. When they looked up, they saw shelves upon shelves filled with wallets.

"Good grief! What's all this?" Thompson asked, looking around.

"It's my... collection?" Mr. Silk answered, nervous.

"What a lot of wallets." Thomas gasped.

"I can't help it. It started with coin purses, and sort of went on from there, really." Mr. Silk spilled.

"You want to be careful. Haven't you heard? There's a pickpocket about." Thompson warned him, making him squint his eyes.

"Yes, he'd love this. Can you imagine?" Thomson chuckled to his twin.

"What do you mean 'pickpocket'?" Mr. Silk asked the detectives.

"A master criminal." Thompson replied making Mr. Silk's eyes go wide. "A bag-snatching, purse-pilfering, wallet-lifting sneak thief."
