❝ I HOPE TO BE THE ONE. ❞

MONDSTADT'S CECELIA || age six
"OH, THERE SHE goes again," I heard a murmur of familiar voices say. This always happens and it makes me laugh every time.
The pitter-patter in my heart from running couldn't be more exciting! Exhilarating even! The warm summer breeze welcomes me everywhere I go. I can't help but revel in it. For once in my life, I finally get to see the festival with my own eyes; not through a small magic mirror that barely captured the city's joy for the event. Everything seen in a magic mirror feels like a fever dream.
They say that today is the day when the people of Mondstadt are most connected to our archon. It's no wonder the wind was stronger today of all days. One of the reasons why my mom absolutely detested that I should be anywhere outside for the festival. But when Mom felt guilty, she let me go under the precaution that I will be careful. I'm so happy, I could practically jump sky-high.
The sounds of excitement chained throughout all of Mondstadt, making the city just a tad livelier than it usually was. Everything seemed to be contagious in Mondstadt; mostly the love and laughter everyone shared. I finally get to be a part of it.
I skipped my way down the stairs and met Donna assisting her mom around the flower shop. She held a cute basket of mostly pale-colored flowers for the festival. Pretty pink ribbons and lace decorating the sides. I thought it was cute but before I could say anything about it, a shadow appeared on the floor beside me and my head came in contact with someone's hand after staring at the lace for too long.
"If you want a flower, you can just say so, y/n," A gentle chuckle rang in my ears. I turned around enthusiastically at the voice of Donna's mom. Donna's mom and mine were close friends which means that whenever I couldn't go outside, she'd bring free flowers to me, freshly picked. She's a nice person; all the more reason for me to be excited.
"Ruri!" I smile, hugging the taller woman in front of me. She placed a hand on my head to keep me in place.
"Y/n," Her tone now a more motherly scolding one, "Are you sure you can be outside right now?"
I pulled away from our warm hug and grinned, "Yeah! Mom gave me permission for once."
She kept her looks of skepticism hidden from me but I could tell she was a bit frantic about my mom's choice to let me outside. Today of all days. I understood what she meant by the worried look on her face but I wouldn't trade this day for the world.
