EXPERIMENTAL WILES

SHE VIGOROUSLY TAPPED the tip of her ink-dipped quill on the desk—already at its wit end covered in old chipped dents for this being done time and time again—now painted in new blotches of ebony. Each time, a wild atmosphere engulfed her office whole. Her face expressed frustration for who knows what, and her eyes were intensely staring at the blank sheet of paper in front of her. At the distance which she was to the paper, she could practically sniff the poor parchment.

She creepily mumbled under her breath; a link of words as if she was reciting some sort of cursed ritual. She just exuded a discontented aura. One could easily assume she was possessed by the devil, but actually, that was quite the opposite.

Y/n was not a very busy person, and when she was, she would finish everything within an hour. Being one of the more passive knights in the Knights of Favonious order, she works efficiently just so she doesn't have anything to do later on. Other than that, she works efficiently so that Jean—the current Acting Grand Master—doesn't give her the hundredth earful. In simpler words, she did her job well and cared for the people. That's all it really takes to be a knight, so to speak. They called her the Lovelorn Lady, y/n. The name is driven by her love for the nation but also for her nonexistent lover.

Now, just like every other day, she was writing a love letter. To whom? Even she doesn't know. It was a peculiar phenomenon that everyone in Mondstadt knew about her. She who loves an unknown person. Even unknown to herself.

There have been rumors, considering the magnanimous figures that surrounded her like Calvary Captain Kaeya, or the Young Master of Ragvindr. Both are top bachelors in Mondstadt. Which, in mind, they care deeply for the Lovelorn Lady. But despite her lineup, she was just single and helplessly delusional. She wasn't writing a love letter to someone she was already dating, though maybe it would ease the hearts of the citizens if she did. People would lose their minds to find out that her dedicated writing time with her heartfelt emotions was to nobody in particular. Only a select few who knew her somewhat understood her predicament. By understanding, meaning accepting her weird ways and letting it be since she's been like this for years. Maybe she had a reason. Everyone else around her found it to be an intriguing aspect of her. She was no doubt the odd one out of the Knights of Favonious, but a lovely addition.

The frequency of her tapping only grew as she became more anxious. At any rate, it could be heard on the other side of the door. So engrossed in her thinking, she failed to notice that ink was smudging onto her clothes and on another mountain of other things.

Fortunately, a firm book tapped the top of her head, stopping her from whatever she was doing or thinking. So easily snapped away from the madness.

She didn't move, but her eyes slowly looked up to find out whose book she had the pleasure of meeting. She had just hoped it wasn't Jean's because she got carried away.
