Prologue | The Earnest Affection

"I see, so you have noticed my affection for her." The indigo-haired male says with a signature smirk on his face, smugness radiating off his aura. Somehow, it feels like he was taunting you in a way...

Looking at the screen, your heart painfully clenched in your chest. Is this jealousy? It was. But you weren't ready to admit it as you tried to keep a poker face, trying to look unaffected by what's happening in front of you, despite your heart feeling the opposite. A sigh escapes your mouth as the feeling of jealousy eats you from the inside. Is it really okay to feel that way? This man is fictional, he was not real yet..here you are, feeling jealous for him. If you were to tell that to someone, how would they react? Would they have a judgemental expression? Or will they be more understanding? You knew that it would be the former.

Haypasia is a nice girl. She has a cute voice too, just from interacting in the game, you can see that she's not a bad person. You feel bad for feeling jealous of the girl like that, after all she didn't do anything wrong!

Another sigh escapes your lips. Here you are, in front of your PC in the middle of late night, playing the 3.2 archon quest when you were supposed to be sleeping in your bed instead. But you could not sleep either so you planned to play until you feel sleepy that is. You just hope your mother won't notice your absence in the bed...

After finishing the archon quest, you yawn tiredly, stretching your arms a bit, feeling sore from sitting in front of the PC for hours. A contented sigh was heard as you felt the soft surface of your bed against your body. Holding your phone close, you open it and immediately go to YouTube, ignoring the time that says " 3:59 am". You put on your headphones for a better experience and soon a small smile forms on your lips as you hear the familiar battle theme of Scaramouche, it has managed to become your favourite in a short amount of time.

You turned your head towards the window near your bed. There was no moon tonight, the dark sky was only illuminated by the stars that managed to sparkle so brightly. A thought comes to occupy your mind as you admire the night sky.

"If you were to make a wish to the stars on a moonless night, your wish will be fulfilled."

It was a saying that you used to believe when you were younger, but you never got the chance to test it out. Feeding on your delusional mind, you made a wish.

"I wish to see Scaramouche, Kunikuzushi, Kabukimono, Wanderer, or whatever name he uses!"

Nothing had happened, only silence answered. Feeling a bit embarrassed, you tossed around your bed. Why did you even think it would work? It was just a silly saying that goes around. Still it doesn't hurt to try right? There was nothing wrong with wanting or having wishes...even if they were a bit absurd. Comforting yourself with these endless thoughts in your head, you drifted off to sleep.
