"And then Vickie laughed! It was not a cheap fake laugh like a genuine laugh." Robin exhaled as she moved her hands excitedly almost smacking me on accident while we sat behind our regular lunch table.
I tried to pay attention to her as she rambled about some band stuff afterward but my gaze was stolen by Dustin's table. Munson was sitting at the very top of it, and I just couldn't pull my eyes away. He was really interesting, like good interesting. The people I hang out with are very similar to me, but this guy was like from another factory.
As I said earlier, I never got a good chance to notice this guy more upfront, but now that we going to be sharing Biology together, I don't think I'll be able to help it.
Before I could turn away, he caught my eyes again and I was a complete mess. He probably gets enough stares from people already, hence I recall some of the jocks calling him a freak. But it was not like that for me, I wanted to let him know I found him.. well cool. Different and I liked that. I gave him a soft smile trying to ease the situation and turned my attention back to Robin.
The rest of the day went on extremely slowly and the amount of homework we got was suffocating. I thought about that guy from time to time when my mind was wandering around the place, but quickly shooed the thought away.
After school, Robin and I had planned to visit some thrift shops. We didn't really want to go to Starcourt hence us being there the entire summer working our asses off, but also because of how expensive were the shops that landed their spots there. Mostly branded or higher-class shit.
Robin needed a new outfit, probably to impress Vickie and I wanted to take a look around to find myself a jacket since the weather was getting colder, and my old one was destroyed by my cat. Long story to say the least.
Luckily I found a brown leather jacket that would suit my softer style but would also do the trick with the price. To be fairly honest I was looking for a black one, but it was just too good of an opportunity to pass. Plus I would have to wait till they restocked everywhere to look around again, and by that time, the weather would've already hit.
I also found myself a shorter cream-white laced dress that was sold for an extremely crazy low price. So of course, I had to take it. Robin looked forever to find a checkered shirt that she could self-customize later on and some ragged jewelry that she could recycle and make something out of it. She once made me a ring out of an old fancy spoon we found together when we went shopping, I still wear it to this day and I am absolutely stunned by her skills. Besides jewelry, she makes funky pins that she begs me to paint for her and I never say no, it's fun.
When the prices are high we have to stick with what we know and that is finding cool shit on the ground or rummaging through Junkyard where people leave old stuff.
We don't steal though. Or at least not often. I mean when the desperate times call for desperate measures we do snag something out of the big chain stores but otherwise we like to stay clear of that and use what people don't want anymore.
Steve always scolds us afraid we would get into some sort of trouble, but Robin and I just shake him off. He is way overprotective sometimes. It's really funny seeing him and Robin argue about the possibilities of us getting caught and everything around it.
God, he could barely ever win an argument.
After what seemed like an hour of constantly searching for some good finds we hopped on our bikes and rushed home. Steve usually takes us by car, but he had work and some girl to bag.
