Quick Trip Through Diagon Alley

Soon, very soon, Hagrid lands his motorbike in a small but not too small alleyway. On the right side of the alleyway were two large wooden doors that lead into the wall. Just in front of the two doors, hanging above, was a small metal sign that squeaked in the wind (it was a little bit annoying actually). The sign was pretty large (around half of an average teenager) and had a witch stirring a cauldron. And right behind those doors and the sign was a large brick wall. The bricks looked much smaller and more brown compared to the ones on my right and left... how suspicious...

"Righ' here is the back door of the Leaky Cauldron, a pub and inn. Grubby ol' place ain't it?", Hagrid said as he hopped off the motorbike, pointing at the two large doors.

"Soo... it's here I'm buying my school supplies? I thought you said we were going to Dragon Alley? And didn't you just say this was a pub?", I asked. I am so confused, all these new words and new places are just swirling and dancing around in my head, when will they just calm down?

"Yes, Diagon Alley. DIAgon, not DRAgon. We enter through here.", Hagrid corrected me again, pointing at the large brick wall.

"Oookay!", I said with a thumbs up. Acting on my witch instincts, I decided to sprint towards the wall, thinking I would just pass through... 'BONK'. Fuck. Guess I was wrong.

"Kellie! Are ya' okay? The Wizarding World ain't that magical! Also, here is yer acceptance letter, it will tell you what you need to buy.", Hagrid said, handing me a small envelope sealed with read wax.

"Yep, all good! Sorry about that.", I said, smoothing down my dress, giving Hagrid another awkward thumbs up, taking the letter too.

"Ok! Here wa' go!", yelled Hagrid just taking out his pink umbrella and pointing at the brick wall. He took a very loud deep breath and tapped the wall with his umbrella. 'BOOM', after a loud sound of what seemed like walls moving, the bricks of the wall started disappearing! One by one, the bricks disappeared, creating a small entrance into the other side of the wall.

"Welcome to Diagon Alley! ", Hagrid said proudly, slowing fitting his large body into the wall. I poked my head through and was greeted with millions up millions of shops on the sides of an average brick path. I could also see many other students, parents and adults wondering around in large black robes.

"Kellie, ya only have around two hours before you have to catch the train!", said Hagrid, trying to get me to hurry. The fact that he said you not we really bothered me, and the fact that he said the train not a train bothered me even more! I didn't want to go onto the train by myself!

After around ten minutes of just wandering around, Hagrid finally told me to open the letter, it read:

Wow. That was a lot to take in. Especially the toad part, I've always wanted a frog, but I guess a toad could do!

After shopping for all my books, uniform and equipment Hagrid lead me to an old looking wand shop called Ollivanders. I pushed open the door as an old man at the counter called my name.

"Welcome Ms Brookes! Great to see that you have finally showed up here! I feels just like yesterday when Marcus and Sarah came in for their wands... anyways, let's have a look at your wand...", the old man greeted me. It seems like my parents came here too... I can imagine their young, innocent faces, smiling as they skipped happily into this very same shop, finding their own perfect wand. I can't even imagine them as a wizard and witch... I can't even remember how they look like after everything thats happened...

"Doo doo doo... aha! Ms Brookes, come over here and try out this wand!", yelled the old man, interrupting my thoughts. I looked over at the old man standing in the middle of a long, long passage filled with thousands, maybe millions of wand boxes. The man handed me a light brown wand. It looked very ugly, and it was super heavy too!

"Try waving it around, maybe give it a light, little flick... like this!", said the man demonstrating with his own lumpy wand. I held the slightly thicker bottom part of the wand, giving it a little flick. Suddenly, a dark red spark flew out, hitting a stack of wand boxes on the shelf, causing a few of them the fall onto the ground.

"Whoops! Sorry! I don't know how to control the the wand!", I apologised, feeling a little embarrassed that a young boy around my age saw my do that. He was also holding a wand, slightly darker than mine, his light green eyes and dark brown hair...

"Ms Brookes? You ok there? You look stunned... anyways! Let's try out another one... just remember, the wand picks you, you'll be able to feel when it's right", said the man, picking up all the fallen wand boxes. He carefully picked out one box from the pile on the floor, examining it, "I think this might be the one, Ebony and Rosewood with Dragon heartstring core, nine and a half in length. This wand has unbending flexibility, so it's ok if it doesn't work out. Try it!".

I took the wand, gripping it tight as I could feel a feeling I've never felt before. I gave it a small swish and a swirl of dark colours shot out, shades of black, purple and green. The colours were ugly, but this wand felt right.

"Hmm... how interesting... when someone has found a wand that's right, it is supposed to shoot out bright colours, not dark... Ms Brookes, does this wand feel right?", asked the old man, worried.

"I don't really know what right is supposed to feel like...  but this wand does feels right.", suddenly I couldn't even name my own feelings, this wand just felt too right.

"Very well then! This wand it is!".

I happily rushed outside with my new wand where Hagrid was waiting. Not only did Hagrid have all my books, he also had a toad! My toad!

"Here ya go Kel! Meet yer new toad! You have to name 'er quickly, she needs to recognise 'er name!".

"Oh my goodness! YAY! I want to call you... Priscilla!"

"Ok. Priscilla it is. Now, yer need to hurry to Kings Cross Station, Platform 9 and 3/4! I'm sure there'll be plenteh of people ta help ya there, I have to head off to Gringotts real quick. See ya at Hogwarts!", said Hagrid, handing me all my stuff and then flying off on his motor bike to Gringotts. What am I supposed to do now?
