The Sorting Ceremony

After the long ride, Hogwarts Express landed at Hogsmeade Station. I looked out the window, it was nightfall, the sky was beautiful, ignited with bright stars. As all the children pushed and pulled to get out first, I heard the familiar voice of Hagrid yelling.

   "FIRS' YEARS! FIRS' YEARS! THIS WAY! COME TO ME!".

Winter, Cody and I all grabbed our large, heavy trunks and headed towards Hagrid. A whole group of other first years came running with us, they were all chatting, having the best time of their lives when Hagrid's loud voice suddenly interrupted.

   "EVERYBODY! FIRS YEARS! GET ON A BOAT! MAXIMUM FOUR PEOPLE ON EACH! MINIMUM ALSO FOUR PEOPLE, WE NEED TO TRY GET THERE AT QUICK AS POSSIBLE!"

Cody, Winter and I all hopped into a tiny, brown boat in bobbing up and down in the huge black lake. We were only three people, we needed another person to pass the 'four people minimum'. 

   "Hey! Mind if I hop on with you?  I promise I won't push any of you off! Hehe!", said a squeaky little voice in front of us. The little girl had curly brown hair and light skin, she also had green eyes, she looked so similar to Cody! 

   "Oh my god are you serious Gaby?! I told you to stay away from me!", yelled Cody, annoyed. I never knew he had a sister!

   "Ugh Cody! Fuck you! I have no friends ok? Please can I go with you! I promise I won't annoy you!", replied Gaby.

   "Cody! When did you know this girl?!", I asked.

   "Ugh... this is Gaby, my crazy twin, that's what mum calls her, but technically she's my sister, I'm six months older.", Cody explained.

   "Mhm... ok... cool!", Winter said, her mind was obviously wandering off somewhere else. 

Soon after Gaby hopped on with us we reached the Hogwarts castle, damn, it was HUGE! On my little boat ride with Gaby, I found out she was actually so nice, so funny too! I actually really enjoy hanging out with her, I hope Cody doesn't mind if she joins us! But I guess it is a little weird when you sibling is hanging out with you! The little boat floated across the whole lake in just under five minutes, when we hopped off the boat, an old but not too old lady greeted us with a huge smile.

   "Welcome! I'm Professor Saylor, headmistress of Hogwarts. Please feel free to take a seat inside, the sorting ceremony will begin very soon!", Professor Saylor said, gesturing for us to go inside the big door. 

Gaby, Cody, Winter and I followed another group of seniors who definitely knew what they were doing down a huge corridor and into another huge door. The room we entered was filled with millions of students, all seated at four different tables, then there was another horizontal table up the front where all the professors sat. The four student tables each had a different coloured table cloth, red (Gryffindor), yellow (Hufflepuff), green (Slytherin) and blue (Ravenclaw). Cody, Gaby, Winter and I all took a seat at the Ravenclaw table, it was the closest to the door. 

Soon, Professor Saylor entered, walking up to the front. She grabbed an old looking, ugly witch hat and placed it on a little wooden stool. Then the hat started to sing! It sang about how the houses became united and all that useless stuff. After the Sorting Hat sang its little song, Professor Saylor started talking.

   "Welcome or welcome back to Hogwarts, the school of witchcraft and wizardry! The sorting ceremony will now begin! Please come up when your name is called and put on the Sorting Hat, it will sort you into your house!", she yelled. "Come on up... Macy Hubbles!", she yelled again. Macy was the naughty girl on the train, I wonder what house she'll get put in!

After a few moments of Macy sitting there awkwardly with the hat that made her look even more stupid, the hat called out "HUFFLEPUFF!". Up next was Midge, the other girl from the train, she also got put in Hufflepuff. Then Cody went up, I hope he gets put in Slytherin! I just want to be with him forever! 

   "SLYTHERIN!", the hat yelled. Cody smiled and waved to me and Winter as he ran towards the Slytherin table, I gave him an awkward thumbs up. Next was Winter, "SLYTHERIN!", she looked disappointed as she walked off towards the Slytherin table with a fake smile. I could see out the corner of my eye that when Winter got to the Slytherin table, Cody gave her a huge high five. Next were a few Gryffindors and Ravenclaws. Then it was Gaby's turn, the hat yelled Ravenclaw. I knew she wanted to be with her brother, but she didn't look too disappointed as she ran towards the Ravenclaw table. I could see Winter giving Gaby the 'can we switch' look, it was very funny! Then Professor Saylor yelled out an oddly familiar name... Kayla Write! She was the writer of Reunited Romance! I love her! SHE'S IN SLYTHERIN TOO. OH MY GOD. Next was me... OH MY GOD. ME. You don't know how much my heart is racing right now. I slowly put on the huge hat, shaking. I sat there, not knowing what to do when suddenly I heard the Sorting Hat whisper, "Hmm... this is a hard one... Slytherin or Gryffindor... what do you want, Kellie?", the hat asked.

   "Slytherin!", I whispered back, excited. 

   "SLYTHERIN IT IS!", the hat yelled. 

I was SO happy! SLYTHERIN! LIKE WHATTT!!! I WAS WITH CODY, WINTER ANDDDD KAYLA! I found a gap between Cody and Winter and squished in. I could feel butterflies inside me, not nervous butterflies, excited butterflies!

After the long ceremony we followed the Slytherin prefects Chloe Harrison and Harold Parks into the Slytherin dungeons. Sadly boys were not allowed in the girls dorm area so we had to leave Cody behind. Winter and I carried our trunks to our dorm room where we found another girl we've never met before. I wanted to be in a dorm with Kayla, but she's so popular her dorm got 'sold out' in seconds! Winter and I decided to ignore the other black haired girl for the time being while we set up our beds and got ready. While I was setting up my desk, I tripped over a Xtra Shimmer eyeshadow pallet, it was so cute! I kinda want to keep it but I think it might be the other girl's, I'll ask when I get a chance!

   "Hey guys! Are two of my new dorm buddies? My friends Allison and May are in this dorm too, they've popped out to visit their boyfriends for a while they should be back soon... anyways, hi! I'm Nicole! Feel free to call my Nic, or Nicky!", Nicole said, welcoming us into our dorm.

    "Hey Nicky! I'm Winter and this is Kellie! We're so excited to spend our night with you!", Winter replied. 

Seconds later two blond girls pop in.

   "Heyyy Nic! Oh! Hey new dorm buddies! I'm Allison, please call me Alli or Allis, pronounced like Alice, also, has anyone seen my new 'Under The Sea - Xtra Shimmer' make up pallet?", giggled Allis, the slightly taller blondie with blue eyes and very pink lips. 

   "Oh! This eyeshadow pallet? I found it on the floor! It looks expensive, you should take care of it!", I said, handing Allis her the make up pallet.

   "Oh my god! Thanks a bunch!", Allis replied. I love when people say 'thanks a bunch', me and Allis should definitely hang out more! She seems so fun!

   "Hey, I'm May, please don't talk to me right now, I need to do my night time skin care routine... first the cream, then the jade roller... ahhh, feels so refreshing... then this 'Super Glow - Rose' face mask... then maybe a little cucumber on my eyes, then also an iced lemonade... also some lip balm...", said May, the shorter blondie with hazel eyes and curly hair. May spent around twenty whole minutes explaining her whole skin routine. I think she cares about her skin more than he friends! Her skin really does glow though! Soon after May finishes her skin care, we all change into our pyjamas and start chatting in bed. After a few minutes I could only hear my own voice, everyone else was snoring like pigs! Guess it's time for me to sleep too!
