Meerub laid in bed, staring at the person she loved the most.

It always filled her stomach with butterflies knowing that he would always be beside her.

She often wondered how she had been able to resist him all this time. Why hadn't she given in earlier. But deep down she knew that she always loved him. His care, his love, his cute little ways to flirt, his husky voice that always made shivers go down her spine. She loved it all.

She was lost in her thoughts when she realised that Murtasim had been tossing and turning for the past 10 minutes. She looked at him and was horrified to see him drenched in sweat. Worriedly, she placed her hand on his forehead only to find him burning hot. She turned to her bedside table and rummaged in her drawer to find a thermometer. She held the device at forehead and was shocked to see the screen flashing red and reading 43.6 degrees.

Meerub hurriedly got out of bed and scurried across the floor to the kitchen. She pulled out a plastic bowl out of the cupboard and filled it with ice cold water and grabbed a few washcloths and rushed back to her bedroom.

She sat herself beside Murtasim and proceeded to soak a few washcloths in the icy water. She took one out and placed it on his forehead. She placed one on his neck and two more on his hands.

Her eyes welled up as she saw Murtasim in pain. She saw he was very uncomfortable and noticed that his kameez was all buttoned up. She opened his buttons to let him breathe freely.

'Murtasim, Murtasim..' she chanted his name like a prayer. 'Murtasim please open your eyes'. She tried to wake him up but he wasn't opening his eyes. Meerub started to get really worried and a few warm tears rolled down her cheeks.

'Ya Allah, please don't let anything happen to Murtasim. What will I do without him' she said to herself heavily breathing.

She turned up the A.C to cool down the air. She lightly kissed him on the forehead and went to her side of the bed and sat down next to Murtasim. She slightly lifted his head and placed it in her lap. She ran her fingers through his thick hair while she cried a little more.

Soon enough, Meerub fell asleep with Murtasim in her hands and her head resting against the bed post. Murtasim would occasionally wake up uncomfortable in the middle of night but would go back to sleep knowing his Meerub was beside him. Meerub would also wake up at times and would check Murtasim's temperature before going back to sleep.

The next morning, Murtasim woke up to find himself in Meerub's lap. He slowly got up, still weary from last night and looked at Meerub. Her hair was slightly messed up, her cheeks red and eyes swollen from crying. He adjusted her slightly and laid her down on the bed kissing her on the cheek and got up to get dressed. After he got out of the bathroom, he saw Meerub awake and staring at the ceiling.

'What are you thinking about' he asked while putting on his watch.

She got out of bed, went to Murtasim and gave him a bone crushing hug. Murtasim was surprised by her sudden action but enjoyed it with his full heart. Meerub buried her face in his neck and grabbed his collar.

'What happened to you last night? Do you know how worried I was.' she said in a nearly crying and worried voice.

Murtasim was about to answer when he felt his chest warm and realised it was wet because she was crying. He broke the hug and held her face in his hands and gave her a warm kiss on each of her now red cheeks.

His heated touch always melted her heart. She felt safe with him and wanted to be nowhere else. All her worries and sadness would disappear with his one touch. His one look. Knowing that anything could have happened to him last night made her cry even more. She knew that she would die without him.

'Meri Jaan, please don't cry. Look I'm fine now.' he said while embracing her in a reassuring hug. Hearing the word jaan from his mouth made her smile. She loved it when he called her that.

He wiped her tears and gave her a warm smile which made shivers go down her spine

'Come, let's have breakfast. It'll make you feel better' he said while rubbing her cheeks.

She nodded and he led her down while holding her hand.

Murtasim felt very lucky in that moment to have a wife who cared about him so much.
