Just like any other young person filled with youthful spirits, Taehyun didn't stop seeking for his sun. His hunger for warmth made him search for the love he once experienced, and this time, he wouldn't opt for too much.
He wouldn't opt for searing hot, not blazing heat, nor blinding bright. Not even a summer night.
And so he sought and waited. Until someone came into his life, crawling so slow and barely noticeable.
It was as slow as the snowflake falling from the sky. As slow as the snow piling up in the streets. As slow as his movements in the middle of the winter.
This time, he didn't meet him in the club. There was no deafening music, blaring neon lights, and bodies filled with sweat and alcohol stench.
It was only the presence of books, the sunlight that shone from the huge window pane, the sound of the papers turning, and some hushed murmurs from the students inside of the university library near their campus.
It was far more toned down compared to his heated season. It's the complete opposite– a whole 180 degree turn. The counterpart of summer.
Just like the season and the way he encountered him, winter was indeed the accurate embodiment, like his new found love's personality that speaks the same language for being the symbol of the frosting weather.
His calm and patient demeanor overturned everything he experienced from Yeonjun.
Like black and white, he was Yeonjun's reverse counterpart, and the same graduating year was all they have as similarity.
The tall young man named Soobin was a senior who helped him out in the library. A simple call of assistance was their first talk and unlike his encounter with his summer, Taehyun initiated it.
It was nothing special. Soobin works as a student assistant librarian in the said place where Taehyun usually studies when he has free time. He recognized the male and appreciated his beauty from afar. He knew Soobin for years before he even met Yeonjun.
And just like the frost worming its way to his exposed skin in the first week of winter, it gave him time to adjust until his whole body felt the chilling air, Soobin also wormed his way into Taehyun's life. Who would have thought that the same interest with fictional book genres can be a relationship starter?
Small smiles, stolen glances, and slight awkward giggles and chuckles started the fire in Taehyun's heart.
The enthusiasm in the latter's eyes and his way of speaking towards the book Taehyun requested to look for to use in his leisure time eased him a lot. Despite being shy and slightly awkward, he still found the tall man endearing in his own way.
And coming from that, the frequent meetings in the library had made its way to Taehyun's hectic schedule, but unlike his past ones with Yeonjun, he needn't add another activity to do so. He used his designated time for studying and reviewing just to get a glimpse of Soobin, hoping each day that the latter would approach him and notice his presence.
