Narrator POV
With a month of medication along with Law's supervising, Luffy get herself together. In those days of Luffy's relapse, Law wouldn't lie about thinking of using the same way before.
But with Luffy's condition it would be too risky to perform the operation to her. Installing a chip putting her into coma to control the memories, Law can't guarantee to get the same outcome of the operation. Besides the one that triggers her to have a relapse because the chip that was installed in her was damaged.
Arriving at school with the Luffy she is. The perfect student was broken. She said she wanted to be on the underground with her brothers, to be listed there she must get her grades straight A's and now that they are gone, hell why pay attention to the school.
She didn't come to observe, she was sent to observe; but Luffy is Luffy. As if she'll do what she was asked to. And even if Luffy be like that, no one will know. She won't tell that to her grandfather and Law won't do something that would upset Luffy. It's a win-win situation for Luffy.
Forgetting about the call she had with her uncle, it was already forgotten by her own will.
"Guys!!!" Luffy said running towards her friends. "Woah!!! Luffy!! You're this energetic now?" Ussop welcome his best friend with open arms, as Luffy jump onto him.
"Luffy. Glad you're okay now." Nami greeted. "It's kind of disappointing that you missed the advance class you applied." Chopper says, "That's true! you left me alone!" Ussop added. "Who cares about that! let's go out, skip class!" Luffy suggested.
"Don't you think Law will be mad?" Zoro finally uttering a word. "Like I said, who cares? Let's go! Let's play to arcades!!"
A quick change of personality and mindset. That is the new Luffy they met, but that new Luffy was her old self. She just came back from who she must, to what she is. They should welcome her back.
"The class will start now. Let's go." Nami said pulling Luffy to their classroom. "What!? No more arcade!!??!" Luffy whines trying to get out of Nami's grasp. "The class will be boring!! guys!! Nami let go!" "SHUT UP! IF ACE AND SABO WAS GONE, I'LL BE THE ONE TO LOOK AFTER YOU!!! YOU'LL FOLLOW ME, LIKE IT OR NOT!!"
As Nami was dragging Luffy to their classroom while scolding her, others watches them disappear to their sight.
"Poor Luffy, tsk tsk tsk." Ussop shaking his head. "Oh Franky. Let's go to our class. By the way, have you finished your design? We made a mess to the store that Luffy let us borrowed." "Oh yeah! The mess was Super worth it! It should be 100!" They talked while walking to the parking to get their design that they pass to their prof.
"See you all later." Chopper said. The only thing Robin said before leaving the last two alone, Zoro and Sanji, "Off to go." The last two stare at each other. Cursed each other before going to their designated classrooms.

Class was never been boring if the subject is tough and hard to learn. But what's the point of having a thought about how hard to pass the class if the learner don't really care.
Play the rules of the school or play around the school not caring about the rules. Either way, do it or not, it's your choice. Your teacher could only scold you.
Kid himself has that mentality. He knew to himself he is not academically smart, but still, he tried to fit in. He can bribe the professor with money.
Kid really don't like studying. Most of the time he was absent from his class, and even if he did to attend one, his professor barely noticed him.
So what he do was stand up, walk out of the class, go to the parking, get his bike to ride, go to mall and play some arcade. It's getting boring for him, somehow. Not getting noticed by his prof is just... not challenging for him. What's the use of escaping if there's no one to stop him?
