Tosiek was tired.
he had been studying since eight p.m. trying to get his homework done.
it was now one in the morning and he was exhausted.
his phone lit up and he noticed that it was Leon who was calling. Tosiek was a little confused because Leon didn't usually call so late.
"Hello?" Tosiek said, picking up the phone.
"Hey." Leon said. "are you busy?"
"kind of, but not really. why?" Tosiek asked, curious.
"I got in an accident. I'm okay, I just need a ride home from the hospital."
Tosiek's jaw dropped. "okay okay." he said hurriedly. "I'm coming, don't move."
Tosiek hung up and ran into his dad's room, shaking him awake.
"dad." he said. "dad. Leon is in the hospital, we have to go pick him up."
that woke him up.
it was long before they were in the van, driving toward the hospital. Tosiek was too afraid to say anything. what if Leon was lying and he was really beat up? what if he wasn't okay?
they found a parking spot by the emergency doors, and Tosiek was out and running toward them before his dad could even turn off the car. he found Leon by the doors, standing, looking uninjured. Tosiek threw himself into Leon's arms, trying not to cry.
"are you okay?" he asked, pulling away and examining him.
"I'm fine." Leon laughed. just a couple of scrapes."
"what happened?"
"I was riding my bike and a car almost ran me over." he said.
"Where were you going this late at night?" Tosiek scolded.
Leon grinned sheepishly. "to see you."
