Tosiek was walking home from school, earbuds in, listening to his current obsession. that's why he didn't notice the group of boys hiding around the corner. and when they jumped him they caught him completely by surprise.
Tosiek was terrified. he knew they were targeting him because he was trans, in fact, he even recognized a couple of them from his school.
he started to feel blinded by the pain, and couldn't focus on anything.
and then he heard his voice. he could recognize Leon's voice anywhere.
Leon pulled him to his feet, and the boys took off down the road, laughing the whole way.
"Tosiek! are you okay?" Leon asked worriedly, supporting him by holding him up.
Tosiek just groaned as a response. and then everything went black.

Tosiek woke up in his bed, Leon laying beside him. it had to be around midnight, because it was dark outside.
Tosiek shook Leon awake, and doing so hurt his muscles.
"Hey." he said, brushing Tosiek's hair back from his eyes. it had gotten a little longer over the semester and Tosiek hadn't bothered to cut it. "how are you feeling?"
Tosiek shrugged, but even that hurt, so he winced.
Leon gave him a sympathetic look. "I can't believe what they did to you, good thing I was on my way to see you or god knows what would have happened-" Leon was rambling now, and Tosiek tried to help calm him down, but he was in a right state.
"-and I don't know what I'd do if you were seriously hurt because I love you so much and I-"
"wait." Tosiek interrupted. "you love me?"
Leon went red, but nodded with confidence. "I do."
Tosiek wasn't surprised when the words came out of his mouth. he knew he loved him too. he knew that Leon would always be there for him. he proved that today. and he would always be there for Leon.
he loved him, he knew that for sure.
