"Stop the bus!" Jess yelled, turning around with so much force she almost fell over. The bus driver slammed on the breaks and the two girls ran to the front, hurrying off the bus as everyone else looked on with confused glances.
They made their way through the trees struggling to find anything in the dark forest. Jess pulled out her phone, switching on the flashlight whilst Sam also pulled out her phone. Only instead of putting on her flashlight she called an ambulance.
"They have to be here somewhere" Jess muttered, praying that her friends were near and safe.
"Rik! Caitlin! Gemma!" Sam yelled after finishing her phone call to the ambulance.
They heard a voice shouting back to them but the words were muffled and they couldnt make out where it was coming from.
"Where are you?" Jess yelled, looking all around them with her flashlight before catching a glimpse of red through the trees. Henrik's car.
The two girls sprinted towards the vehicle and were met with the sight of Caitlin on her knees, breathing heavily like she was having a panic attack and Henrik and Gemma in the car, seemingly injured.
Jess rushed to Caitlin's side whilst Sam ran to the car to help Gemma and Henrik get out before the ambulance arrived.
"Your nose" Jess said before handing the younger girl a tissue. She took it, wiping the blood as her breathing started to even out.
She couldn't tell Jess what she saw, it was probably just a hallucination or something because of the concussion. Jess didn't believe in the witch, she would probably think it was some stupid prank. Although, this is a lot of effort to go to for a prank.
"I'm fine, just hit my head" she said, touching the back of her head to find that it was bleeding.
A few minutes later the ambulance arrived and Jess and Sam helped them into the ambulance before they got asked by the police to give a statement on what happened.
Sheriff Goode took the girls to the side one by one, Jess first and asked them a bunch of - frankly stupid - questions about the car crash.
"With all due respect, sir" Jess said, feeling the need to be nice to him since he saved her life a few days ago. "We had nothing to do with that car crash. It was a freak accident, it happens. Can I go now?"
Sheriff Goode sighed, running his hand through his hair and looking stressed, which almost made Jess pity him. Almost. He was a rich asshole after all, even if he did save her life. "Look, Jess. I know you've been through a lot, I'm just trying to do my job here"
"Well, I'm just trying to get to my freinds, okay Sherrif? Now if you'll excuse me" She said, pushing past him and grabbing Sam by the arm, dragging her into the back of the ambulance with their friends despite her protests. She wasn't wasting time waiting for Sam to talk to the sheriff when she would tell him the same thing Jess did anyway.
"What the hell did you say to him to piss him off so much?" Sam muttered as she watched Sherrif Goode fade off into the distance from the window of the moving ambulance.
"Nothing, he's just in a bad mood" Jess said, waving off her concerns before turning to the three of her friends in hospital beds.
It didnt take them long to get to the hospital where Henrik, Caitlin and Gemma were set to spend the night.
Jess and Sam got sent home and the next day, Jess spent the whole day in bed.
She couldn't be bothered getting up at all, especially not with the amount of stressful things that had happened in her life recently so she just stayed in bed until Raven showed up at her house, causing her to finally get up.
"There you are, I've been trying to call you" Raven said, stepping inside without an invitation. Jess didn't really mind, Raven was here all the time anyway.
"My phone's been off" Jess explained, running a hand through her hair.
"Yeah, well maybe you should turn it on for once" Raven said, sitting down in the living room and turning on the TV. "y'know to call Caitlin. Gemma and Henrik are fine, they got let out this morning but Caitlin has a pretty bad concussion"
"Shit. Really?" Jess asked before being distracted by a knock at the door.
"That might be Sam, she said she would come over after cheerleading practice" Raven called after Jess, who was walking down the hall to the door.
When she opened the door, it wasnt Sam she saw standing there it was someone she had never seen before in her life but the notepad in his hand and the recorder in his breast pocket told her that he was here from some kind of newspaper for an interview about the attack over the weekend.
"Hey I was just wondering if-" Jess let out a groan of annoyance before slamming the door in his face before he could finish his question.
"Some asshole news reporter" She told Raven before pulling out her phone to call Caitlin.
"Hey, sorry I didnt call earlier-" She started speaking before a woman's voice cut her off, Caitlin's mum.
"Who is this?"
"Jess, I'm Caitlin's friend"
"Dont call her again" She said. Caitlin's parents had always thought the group were a bad influence on their daughter, which always made Jess laugh because other that Lisa and Luna's drug business they were probably the least likely group of kids to get in trouble, until recently at least.
The line went dead and Jess sighed. "Fucking Caitlin's mum"
Raven laughed, rolling her eyes. "Does she still hate us then?"
Jess nodded before catching a glimpse of something outside the window from the corner of her eye.
She had to do a double take but when she squinted to look closer it was unmistakable what she was seeing.
Someone in a skull face mask, the same mask John was wearing the night of the mall massacre.
