"IVY GIVE ME MY PHONE BACK! I KNOW YOU HAVE IT!"
"LEAVE ME ALONE! I NEED TO POST A NEW TIKTOK!"
Ridley sighed and heaved her black comforter off the little mattress that was propped against the floor, dragging their feet out of the door.
"Shut.. UP." Ridley yelled, and began to spray a relatively clean pan with butter.
Mrs. Maggie's recipe for eggs was easy enough, Ridley just left two plates on the counter because she wasn't appetised in the morning. Sleezily walking to the small hallway in their apartment, Ridley shoved Sage away from the youngest child's door, picking the lock with a coin she kept in her pocket for these times when Ivy was being annoying.
"Voila."
Shrieking came next as Ridley walked back to her room and changed into some cargo pants and a white shirt. The screaming stopped as what Ridley guessed, Sage got her phone back.
"Chop chop Sage and Ivy, you need to go to school!"
Sage was a senior and Ivy was a freshman, Ridley was an online college student.
Ivy woke up in a miniskirt and low hanging tank top. Ridley sighed, but arguing was pointless. Sage walked through in tight jeans and a nice red hoodie.
"Ivy aren't you gonna be cold?" Sage questioned, tying her brunette hair in a ponytail.
"That's none of your business." Ivy scoffed, she was never the best with words but the message got across, and she went to get a yellow sweater.
she wore it the coldest way possible, barely skimming both shoulders.
"Alrighty, skedaddle into the car you guys." Ridley yawned, putting the children's breakfast in a zip lock baggie and in their bags.
(Ridley is not their mother. Actually, pretty far from that.)
Her blood red Jeep never let Ridley down. it had pretty comfortable leather too, which was always a win on long trips.
They both got dropped off at the big highschool next to the grocery store, called Winn Daxie.
Ridley yelled goodbye to them, especially Ivy to embarass her as much as possible infront of her 'Heather' friends who called themselves the Y girls. Ridley had them over once, it was a disaster. That was when Ridley realized Ivy had horrible friends.
Ridley pulled up at her first job, called the Honeypot. It was a small diner. Inside were her friends Zoey and Cal. They were all waiters.
"Hey Zoeweed!" Ridley called, high-fiving Cal.
"Any annoying people come today?"
"Yeah, yeah . . Table five." Zoey groaned, she hated that nickname like Cal hated the name Calvin.
Unlike Zoey, Ridley knew how to deal with ignorant people. It was the "Patience and Prudence" technique as Cal called it.
"Hello ma'am, what can i get for you today?"
"Oh yes, the Mayan Monster?" the middle aged lady asked. Fortunately, for Ridley that was a seasonal drink, which meant more 'entertainment'.
"Sorry, ma'am, we don't have that drink anymore. It's seasonal."
"But you always have it."
"No, we don't. Sorry, but we only have it during spring and summer times. It's fall."
"Says who?"
"The manager."
"well I'd like to speak with him."
Ridley held back a giggle as she nodded and ducked down.
She rose up in the same spot.
"What's your problem Miss?"
The lady groaned and opened her mouth as she was gonna say something, but picked up her bag and heave-ho, left.
Cal who was serving another table giggled and so did Zoey.
The next job Ridley had was at Sub-Away. Honestly, the appeal of trying to get every drop out of a bottle of mayonnaise didn't click with her, but it did with her friend Violet.
"Hey Train wreck!" Violet called to Ridley and they hugged.
"So how's it going with that girl? Darcy, right?" Violet asked, putting an arm around the nearest counter.
"I know it's not your break, Violet. Go work. Maybe one day i'll tell you when we don't have customers.
Violet and Ridley had been friends through middle school, and still stuck together.
The customers at Sub-Away were in all different shapes and sizes. Families and Gym 'bros', it felt like it went on forever.
Finally, it was Ridley's last job, at a small coffee house called Espresso Express. Honestly, it looked pretty cool with cozy brick walls and fake ivy plants on little ledges, and a small train that delivered food. Ridley's job was to take out the trash and wash dishes.
The people who worked with her were average, but they weren't really friends. Everyone had their own interests and Ridley had his.

(Ridley is He/They/Her)
(Sage is She/her, Ivy is She/her and so is Violet and Zoey.)
(Cal is He/They)

Finally, Ridley's shifts had ended and their paycheck would come tomorrow. It was a relaxing friday and it began to rain peacefully as Ridley drove up to the Highschool and calmly walked into the waiting room.
Ivy and Sage were both standing there. Ivy was furiously on her phone, wiping away wet mascara and sage was staring at the glass walls into the rain.
Thank god Ridley had remembered to bring an umbrella, Ivy already seemed pretty upset.
They drove home in utter silence before Ridley put on "September" by Sparky Deathcap on loop to try and lift the mood.
Ivy immediately jogged into the apartment door and ran into her room. Sage walked through and went into hers, flopping on her bed before throwing something at the door to make it close. Ridley sighed and began to do some schoolwork after changing into a comfortable tan sweater and pajama pants.
If Ridley knew anything about Ivy, she had to have some alone time before being consulted about her feelings or she would throw a tantrum that Sage and Ridley would have to clean up. They normally included test papers, clothes.. pens, even.
Ridley studied until 2 AM almost, eating dry cereal. The lights had all been turned off and Ridley had still been blasting September through her dying headphones from the car.
"Ah, That's enough. God, 2 AM already? I'm turning into sage, aren't I..."
Ridley turned off her computer and began to charge her headphones, but there was something she needed to check before going to bed.
Whipping out their dirty white phone, Ridley opened Discord, and went on a chat with Darcy. Nope, no response yet. It's been a month.
We've been going on dates for a small time now, and you're normally so quick to respond.
Ridley's fingers glided across the blue dark screen.
'Are you okay Darcy? :')'
Am i just clingy..? Or do you not like me anymore.
