Evelyn instantly recognized the brown haired maid: she was one of the few characters that made the episodes less horrific: the one and only Mizzy, the personal maid of the heroine and one of the cornerstones of the resistance.

She acted as a spy throughout the whole series until she was discovered and sentenced to death for high treason.

It was shocking that now she was HER personal maid.

"Your Highness, are you unwell? You look so pale."

Noticed the maid with a concerned expression

"Oh, it's nothing. It's probably because I'm not eating well lately. Don't worry too much Mizzy"

This made the brown haired vampire worry even more.

In the vampire kingdom a mate, destined or chosen was called 'Aster'.

A vampire could only feed on their aster's blood after a certain age; in fact, after puberty the animal/human blood gradually became less and less nutritious until the body weakened to the point of even causing death.

Precisely for this the vampires immediately went in search of their mate if they had a mark and if not the family organized an arranged marriage to save the life of the young vampire.

The problem now was that the vampire princess was someone with such a powerful magical core that not everyone could sustain a mating bond with her.

Also such a powerful core made only her body degenerate faster.

The girl needed to find an Aster as fast as possible.

And the only one still single and available was 'Duke' Alexander, who was in love with another girl and planned to marry her soon, thinking she was his destined mate, even if the family didn't accept her.

Due to pressure from his family and other noble ones for this 'royal marriage', Alexander despised Evelyn so much that he even aided her brother Claude in a couple of assassination attempts.

All this noble dispute had been going on for years now and the more time passed the more Evelyn's body weakened.

The only solution was to find someone else from another reign, but this was extremely difficult: the Nox kingdom had always stood out and isolated itself from the others in all areas (political, economic, religious) to the point of being even the only one to not having a fairy as an adviser, which put him in a bad light in the eyes of others.

The other Reigns would never have accepted a wedding with a royal of the Nox kingdom and that was why the vampire princess was still in this precarious situation.

Seeing the maid expression Evelyn tried again to reassure her

"Mizzy, it's really okay. I'm young and strong, I can wait for at least another couple of years to find my Aster.
Right now I have more important things to think about"

The vampire princess didn't specify what but Mizzy knew all too well what she meant:

Claude, the opposing faction of nobles backing him up and their schemes.

The maid observed with concern her lady: a petite body which became smaller and smaller each time; a beautiful face which was pale even for a vampire and deep dark circles under her heterochromatic eyes, a clear sign of tiredness; her lady was visibly exhausted and not in good health.

The brown haired girl sighed. She could only hope that the situation will resolve soon.

"It's late, my lady, you have to rest or you will be too tired to attend the Council tonight"

"Does the council meet tonight?"

The brown haired female frowned in confusion; it was strange that the princess didn't remember such an important thing.

"Yes, my lady, to discuss the kingdom's position against the red moon's actions"

Oh Right, she forgot about that, the famous 'red moon' mentioned in the episodes dedicated to Claude's back story.

In the story there was this large and infamous organization in Nox, called ' red moon', which ran the illegal trafficking of women and shapeshifters with the other nations used as guinea pigs for experiments and slaves.

Not only was it very powerful and rooted in this world but in one way or another they always managed not to be discovered by the Council.

It was like they were always one step ahead of the others.

Red moon's actions became more and more radical, even going so far as to implement several terrorist acts, destabilizing all five kingdoms, especially Nox, headquarters of the Organization.

Citizens began to revolt against the Royal family and the nobles, considering them now incompetent and useless.

The fate of Nox seemed sealed until Claude Le Rouge managed to track down the main branch of the Red moon, capturing the leader and recovering lists of names of the various allies of the organization.

He became Kartos' greatest hero, acquiring unimaginable prestige and power

But the shocking thing was that over the course of the various episodes, the people watching them, discover that in reality the real leader of red moon was just Claude.

He had created and planned from the start to use the organization as his 'debut' as savior of Nox in order to have the right to the crown which his father had always denied him, not appreciating his sadistic nature.

And after the he killed the (fake) leader of red moon, he continued to use it for his shady purposes.

'That crazy psychopath' thought Evelyn scornfully

And Claude was just one of the psychopathic mates she will have to face in the future; not to mention that manipulative bitch.

Just the thought gave her a headache.

Evelyn started rubbing her temples trying to ease the pain a little bit.

The brown haired vampire was alarmed by her action.

"My lady..."

"Mizzy, it's only a little headache. However you're right, it's better if I sleep a little bit."

And with that she dismissed the young maid.
