My head spins as blue and green lights flash around me. With each flash of light, I can see Billie beside me. Loud music pounds my ears as people in the room shout. The past few days have been a blur of constant stress. After our trip to Mexico, we returned, and I begrudgingly had to go back to work. I hated being away from Billie while she was stuck dealing with her brother's stupid choices. Her life was in imminent danger because of him. I was able to get the next week off, lying about some family emergency. Now, with having this week off of work, I've been helping to figure out how to find the final box. Sebastian has annoyingly been a good help. As an attempt to destress and forget, I jokingly suggested we go to a club. Billie surprisingly agreed. Now I'm here. We found a little dance club somewhere in the city. As it's a Friday night, it is packed with any teenager feeling even the slightest bit rebellious. Billie has encouraged heavy drinking, and I have not contested her wishes. I sway to the music feeling lighter, yet my feet are cemented to the floor. Any move I try to make, my top half moves before my bottom half. Billie has also been drinking, though in my state I can't tell how drunk she is. Kacey came along with us as protection. She has stuck to tonic water and lime. She sits at the bar, observing us. I try my best to ignore her now. Ever since Sebastian joined us, she has been especially protective of Billie. Her actions have interfered with my attempts at consoling Billie. One night, she went as far as trying to convince us that she needed to sleep in our room with us.

"I'm getting hot." Billie shouts in my ear. "Me too, let's go outside." I suggest. I turn and walk to the door. Billie follows me. I throw my too-light upper half against the door to open it. We stumble outside into the night air. It is muggy, and the sound of insects are never ending. Though, it is still a relief from inside the club. A few seconds later, Kacey rushes through the door. "You can't wander off like that without talking to me!" She shouts at me. "What? Oh, come on, it was too hot in there!" I shout back in protest. "Yeah, Kacey, you don't have to worry about us. We just needed a second outside." Billie adds. "No! You're both wrong. It is dangerous now more than ever for both of you. Salazar has to know about Sebastian. You are both in danger and need constant protection." Kacey tries to explain. I know that this should concern me. It really should. However, Kacey is getting harder and harder to want to listen to when I see a taco stand across the street. A flickering light shines about it, beckoning me. "Billie!" I exclaim. "Yes, darling?" She answers. "Look, tacos!" I say, pointing to the stand. "Kacey, would you allow us to cross the street for some tacos?" Billie asks condescendingly. Kacey lets out a huff and then nods. Billie grabs my hand, "Come on, darling, let's go get some food."

We sit on the curb eating our food. Kacey's annoyance with us did not stop her from ordering her own tacos. Though, she still sits several feet away from us. "You know, my love, I didn't expect you to agree to go clubbing tonight. It doesn't really seem like your thing." I say as I finish up scarfing down my food. "You're right. It isn't really my thing. I don't know, I've been feeling extra stressed. I mean, I'm always worried about something, but recently, it has been increased exponentially. I wanted to try something new to see if it would help." Billie responds. "And has it?" I ask. She wipes her mouth with a napkin. "You know, I'm not entirely sure." She puts her plate down beside her. "I haven't had this much to drink in years. It reminds me of my time in university." She chuckles. "Well, I'm ready to go back. Are you?" Billie asks me. "Yes, we should go." I reply. "Kacey, we're ready to go back. Can you go get the car." Billie says. Then she adds, "I'm sure we will be alright in the two minutes it takes you to bring the car around." Hesitantly, Kacey takes one last bite of her food and walks off to find our car on the block over. I stand to throw my trash away. I offer Billie a hand to help her stand up. The food helped some with my balance. Billie's trash is thrown away, and we go under a tree to wait for Kacey.
