The sunlight crept through the drapes, slowly filling the room. The breeze was gentle and calming. Bellona's head rested on Thor's bare chest, rising slightly with each breath he took. His arms wrapped around her body, engulfing her with his warmth. Her eyes slowly opened, and she couldn't help but steal a glance.
He looked so peaceful. His blonde locks spread on the pillow, and Bellona couldn't help but run her fingers gently through a strand on his chest. Her eyes were enticed by it. His hair was soft, and she couldn't help but smile when her finger brushed against his skin.
He moved slightly, and within a few moments, his eyes opened, meeting hers. She flashed him a soft smile, and he returned one.
"Good morning," she whispered. He gave her head a soft kiss and gently rubbed at her back.
"Morning," he responded. His voice was rough, more profound than usual. He looked out onto the balcony, realizing the rising sun. It wasn't wise for him to stay the night. Someone could find the two of them after the night they had. There was no telling how others would react.
"Last night was..." Bellona trailed, smiling as she idly rubbed a finger along Thor's chest. He smiled at her words and looked down at her. She looked up, meeting his eyes.
"Amazing," he finished. Bellona chuckled at his words, scooting closer to him in the bed. She didn't want to be away from him. She wanted to stay like this for as long as they could. She had been dreaming of this moment for so long. She didn't want it to end.
"Do you think they'd notice if we stayed in bed all day?" Bellona asked, sitting up, resting her arm on his chest, and placing her chin on top. Thor chuckled at her words.
"I think it would be suspicious that we're both missing," he retorted.
"That is true," she agreed. It was interesting. Thor was the voice of reason for once. "I just don't want to leave this bed," she paused briefly. "I don't want to leave you."
"I don't want to leave either." He pulled her in for a soft kiss on her lips. Bellona's stomach fluttered at the action. She wasn't used to this type of attention from him. She loved every second of it. "But unfortunately, we still have work to do. The war isn't over, and I'm sure my father would like to discuss more action plans."
Bellona nodded before sitting up, allowing Thor to get out of bed and gather his clothes. They were tossed and thrown around on the floor surrounding the bed. Bellona watched him silently as he dressed. She admired his back muscles, watching his biceps tighten with each movement. She was in complete awe.
"Can I ask a question?" She asked. Thor pulled his shirt over his head before turning to face Bellona. She wanted this again. She wanted to spend another night with him. She wanted to spend every night with him if she could. When she opened her mouth to speak again, there was a knock at the door.
The two of them froze, and tension grew in the room. Their eyes darted to the door, and after a moment of silence, there was another knock.
"Bellona, it's Sif. I have news for you that Odin wanted me to deliver," Sif said through the door.
Bellona quietly cursed under her breath. She quickly hopped out the bed and tried to gather her nightgown and put it on.
"I'll be there in a moment," she called out. Thor assisted her with putting the gown on and tried to gather his remaining things from the floor. "You have to go into the bathroom," she whispered to Thor.
She pushed him into the bathroom and gently closed the door after him. She tried to fix her messy hair. She cleared her breath and opened the door.
"Hello, Sif," Bellona greeted her. "My apologies. I slept in. I'm still not used to Asgardian ale." She chuckled lightly, pushing a stray hair behind her ear.
