SHINIER TITLE

The next morning after some much needed sleep, more secure bandaging for the prince's shoulder, and a group of strangers now together as friends- they set out for one final ally.

They stayed below the tree line, knowing it would prolong patrol knights from spotting them... hopefully. "Does every griffin have a name?" Ari asked, looking down at the stone gray female he rode.

Princess Orra nodded, a smile on her lips, "indeed they do. Lilah, the arrow, which means the leader of this flock, has a flower originated name. The female you are on is Daffodil, she's Lilah's sister."

Ari grinned, "thank you for letting me ride, Daffodil. You have a pretty name." Daffodil purred, it was clear she enjoyed his compliment. It seemed most things of the Feather-Born world had taken a liking to Ari.

First the willow tree and now the griffin. "What's mine's name?" Princess Orra glanced back at Pennsworth's griffin, "Dandelion, another female."

Prince Omknee rode on the left of Lilac, "all of them are females. Silver griffins like to stick together, sometimes males will split up a flock to start their own. So, the girls refuse to invite a male amongst them. The griffins my sister and I have are Charcoal griffins, they flock with both sexes but usually have bigger numbers."

"How many kinds are there?" Kyah asked, suddenly very curious about them. Prince Omknee and Princess Orra had plenty to tell and he would have never thought an animal could have so many different lifestyles.

Silver griffins were born steel gray and gradually faded to silver the older they became. They were mostly comprised of females and only split once every five years to find a mate before reuniting. They liked to live near forests and mountain areas.

Charcoal griffins were always ebony black. They consisted of males and females with flocks of thirty and over. They mainly stayed in the mountains to live in caves they usually carved as a family unit.

Pearl griffins were either a light cream or white and only lived in the colder climates with high peaks. They either flocked in groups of all female or all male and mated twice with one partner their entire life. They were one of the rarest breeds.

Golden griffins, like Outcast, lived in trees or caves in mountains. They flew in small groups of three or four, and were hardly ever found anywhere- not exactly because of their rarity but because of how skittish and intelligent they were.

"Have you ridden all of them?" Pennsworth pondered. Orra shook her head whereas Omknee sighed, "I've ridden every one but the golden. We had hope Outcast would calm down enough for us to befriend him, but it seems he never had eyes for us at all. I am happy with Onyx though, we are a lot alike."

Kyah smiled, watching the Feather-Born Prince pat his griffin. He was briefly reminded of Astoria; he never went a ride without stroking her neck.

"They are pretty remarkable," November commented, Lilac seemed to get along easily with her. It was like they were meant for each other, even if November was just a human. Lilac's baby, Orchid, never left her side, she liked November too.

It made Kyah smile, she was so afraid to climb on and they ended up liking her the most. Outcast was doing well flying in a group, in fact, he was even interacting with the other griffins.

Everyone, for the moment, seemed to enjoy each other's company. The early morning sun spread her rays throughout the forest, casting everything in golden light. The weather was pleasant, a slight breeze in the air along with a crisp chill.
