"Johnny... he's dead," Ponyboy sputtered, barging into the house. You stood up with your hand covering your mouth. Johnny, who had been like your little brother, was gone. "We told him about beating the Socs and... I don't know, he just died."

A tear slipped down my cheek and Soda grabbed your hand and hugged you for comfort. Soda also whimpered like he was going to cry too.

"Dallas is gone. He ran out like the devil was after him. He's gonna blow up. He couldn't take it."

Your mind was spinning. Dally too? The toughest one?

"So he finally broke. So even Dally has a breaking point."

"Pony, Y/N, you guys look sick. Sit down."

"I'm okay," you snapped. "I don't want to sit down."

Darry stepped towards me. "Don't touch me!" you shouted. Your heart was pounding inside your chest like it was going to break out any second. Suddenly, the phone rang and Darry grabbed it.

"Hello?" It was silent for a minute. "It was Dally. He phoned from a booth. He's just robbed a grocery store and the cops are after him. We gotta hide him. He'll be at the lot in a minute."

Before anyone else could process the situation, you ran out of the house in a  full sprint. Something in you made you run so much faster than before, racing to Dally before the cops could get him. You weren't going to let them hurt him. Not Dally. Not Johnny and Dally both. You were in the vacant lot with everyone else trailing at least a couple hundred feet behind you. Dally came running in from the opposite direction as the police sirens grew louder.

"Dally!" you shouted, but you could barely hear myself over the slamming of doors and pounding of footsteps. Dally was under the street lamp, quickly stopping and turning around. You saw the glow of something black on his waistband. No! No no no no no!

"No! It's not loaded!" You screamed, rushing towards Dally. And in an instant, you jumped at him, wrapping your body around his. As you hit the ground, you felt sharp pain in my back and knew that you had been hit.

"No!" Dally cried, throwing his unloaded gun to the side. "No, Y/N!"

You looked and watched as the policemen dropped their guns in shock. You blubbered and coughed up blood. "No, no, Y/N, please," Dally begged. "You're gonna be okay."

"No," You whimpered, feeling the rough cement on your bare arms. "Just hold me, okay?"

"No, you little shit, why would you do that?" Dally cried, holding you in his arms and cradling your head.

"Shhh, don't say anything else," you said weakly, running your fingers over his cheeks. "Just hold me."

"I'm here, I'm here, Y/N, stay with me," he begged. Soon, the gang was surrounding you and Steve let out a sob.

"Hey, bro," you said to Steve, holding out your hand. Steve took it and hugged it tight.

"Not my little sister," he whispered, crying. "Not her-"

You blinked slowly, your breaths growing heavier. You blinked and looked up at Dally. "Why, why Y/N," he sobbed, gently rubbing my head.

"Because..." you whispered, feeling myself get tireder and tireder. "Because I love you."

Everyone gasped and Dally let out a low whimper. "Me too, Y/N, me too. Come on, stay with me. We can live together, and I'll even let you share my Kools."

I laughed weakly and more blood came out of my mouth. "Just hold me," I said again, letting my eyes droop. "Just hold me..."
