It all started that one evening, I couldn't believe it changed my life forever. Maybe for the better.

It was late one evening, maybe extremely early the next day when I started hearing the sirens. The sirens I started becoming use to, they were the ones I use to imagine being part of dreams- not real life. I felt a cold hand reaching for my shoulder, as I tired to ignore the sirens. It was Susan.

"Opal! Lucy! come on!" She had dragged Lucy out of the room hand in hand. I was still trying to get my slippers on, grabbing a blanket and a photo of my family from the right bedside table. I wasn't use to sharing a room with anyone, as I always grew up being the only child.

"Opal! Hurry up !" Was the distant scream of Susan. I hurried to the back door, where everyone waited. All of us charging for the shelter... Praying for a bomb not to drop from above.

By the time I had safely arrived into the bunker, it was only then when I realised Edmund and peter weren't trailing behind us anymore. I'd been close to the Pevensie's as I was in the same year as Peter, sometimes i would help tutor Susan. Susan was my closest friend at school.

"Peter and Edmund aren't here, I'll go inside, tell them to come quickly... we can't just let them die!"

Mrs Pevensie touched my shoulder forcing me to face her, " hey I promised your parents I would look after you, I'm not letting you go an kill yourself. Go over to Susan and Lucy."

I knew she was right. It would be no use if all three of us were dead. It was her sons who were in there.

I could just about workout Peter and Edmund chasing back to the shelter. We all shouted for them to hurry up.

Peter shoved Edmund into the shelter, him flying onto the floor. Clearly hurt. "Why can't you think of anyone else, you're so selfish, you nearly got us all killed! Why can't you just do as your told?" Mrs Pevensie looked at peter in away to tell him to shut up. Peter slammed the door shut as I stood up.

"Peter! your alive aren't you. I know it was stupid for him to run in there but at the same time, he clearly wanted the photo of his father. The only thing to remember him by if anything was to happen. Can't you just think about your brother for once!"

He looked at me in shock, " Just be quite, your family sent you here to protect you, they're not here, you wouldn't understand."

"Yeah I wouldn't understand Peter, because it's not like my father is also fighting in the war, my mother barely speaks to me! Your acting as if I didn't nearly just run in there, risking my own life to get you both out. I guess caring about others, isn't understanding them."

I went over to Susan and lucy and laid down. Even though it was going to be a long night, at least I could get some sleep.

"Wait, Opal I'm sorry!"

I turned over to face away from them all, I'll probably forgive him by the morning.

The next day:

Cries from children, teenagers not wanting to leave their families, was all i could hear. We all were standing at the train station. We were all being sent together to the countryside.

Mrs Pevensie first tied a tag to Lucy. These tags told everyone where we were being sent.

" Alright? You warm enough?" Lucy had been feeling upset all morning.

"If Dad was here he wouldn't make us go." I gave Ed a reassuring look. I did feel bad for him, all he wanted was for his father to be home.

Peter being the smart-mouthed he is, "If dad was here the war would be over and we wouldn't have to go."

Mrs Pevensie asked Edmund, " you will listen to your brother Edmund?" she tried to give Edmund a hug but Edmund clearly looked like he didn't want it. Ed can sometimes be stupid. I wish he just understood on how his mother would be feeling, sending her children away so they could be safe whilst she stayed, where she was in danger.

Next she gave a hug to peter ( I could't quite hear what she said to him), and a hug to Susan, " oh Susan, be a good girl " I rubbed Susan's arm as she started to cry. I felt sad myself but I couldn't bring myself to cry. I had to stay strong for the others.

Mrs Pevensie next came over to me, "Opal..." (she engulfed me into a hug)"look after the others for me, especially Peter. Promise me you'll make sure he doesn't do anything stupid. Write to me if their is any problems." I felt a single tear fall down my face. I wiped it away.

"I will Mrs Pevensie, I'll make sure they come back to you safely. Thank you for everything you have done for me, I couldn't imagine what my life would be like if you weren't there for my family."

She went back to where she started, Infront of the group, "alright, off you go." Peter went to hold Lucy's hand and we one by one picked up our bags. We made our way to the ticket Lady. "Please may I have your tickets please, tickets please." Peter was in a day dream of his own. Susan snatched them off him and nicely gave them to the women. " On you go. " I whispered a thank you as I walked past her.

Peter kept reassuring Lucy. We went onto the train to find an empty carriage. The Pevensies went to find an open window to say their goodbyes to their mother. I made myself comfy in a seat. I thought it was for them, I didn't want to intrude. Considering it wasn't my mother there.

The train began to move forward and the other Pevensie began to join me. Some of them decided to read a book, others like me decided to sleep so we wouldn't be tired once we got there.
