I decided to call my new friend Othersam. It makes it easier.
They're trans too, so I've been asking them about stuff. We've been texting a lot.(So Sam talking will look like this and othersam will look like this
Othersam
When did you realise you were trans?
What's your deadname?
Umm you shouldn't really ask people that
Oh crap sorry
It's ok
It's weird that we have the same name
Well it's kind of a common name
Yeah but we're both trans, we're both called sam and we have the same nose
The same nose?
It was just something I noticed
I couldn't stop thinking about Othersam. Why did we have all these similarities? What was going on? Was it a coincidence that we'd met or was it something else?
I was snapped back to reality when I heard my mum calling me from downstairs.
"Samantha! I need you to come here!"
I didn't want to, but I went downstairs.
"Give me your phone for a moment," mum said.
"Why?" I asked. I certainly had a lot to hide.
"I want to see who you're talking to," heck no.
"No, mum. You can't look at who I'm talking to. That's private."
"I am your mother, you don't have privacy from me! I need to see if you've been talking to anyone who's giving you silly ideas."
"No." I quickly ran upstairs again, but mum came after me. She snatched my phone and started looking through all my messages. She found my conversation to Othersam.
"Who is this? What is she saying to you? And why is she called Sam?"
"They are not saying anything weird to me, mum."
"She's filling your head with silly ideas, isn't she? She's telling you that you're a boy, when you aren't. You're a girl, you'll always be a girl."
"I don't want to listen to this, mum. I'm going to my room. Give me my phone back."
Othersam
I just got in a fight with my mum again
Damn I'm sorry
Sometime I just want to run away, but I can't do that, I don't have anywhere to stay
Well if it gets too out of hand at yours you could always crash at my place
Really? That'd be awesome
This was a great opportunity. I could finally be free from my terribly mother! Though I'd miss Isa a lot. Should I tell her before I left?
Later
I knocked on Othersam's door. They answered immediately.
"Hey, you came! Come in," they said, smiling.
"Hi, thanks for letting me stay, I really appreciate it."
"No problem! I'm happy to help someone like me."We went into the living room. Sitting on the sofa was a woman with dark hair and glasses.
"Hey, Mom, this is Sam. Is it okay if he stays with us for a bit? Sam, this is my foster mother."
I wasn't listening. All I heard was "he."
HE!!!!
I'd never been called that before. It felt amazing. It made me feel validated.
We went up to Othersam's room to see where I would be sleeping. Luckily they had a bunk bed.
"So, do you have any other questions about being trans?" Othersam asked.
"Yeah, when did you tell your foster mother about it?"
"I told her last year, luckily she's been supportive."
"Wow, I wish my mum supported me. She thinks I'm stupid."
"Yeah, my first foster mum was the same. She was the one who took me to the doctors."
"You've been fostered more than once?"
"Three times. My current one's been the nicest."
"What about your birth mum?"
"She was horrible," came Othersam's simple answer.
"So's mine. I'm so glad I'm not there anymore. Once again, thanks for letting me stay."
"It's no trouble at all, I'm glad to have you here."
So that's this chapter! Sam's staying with Othersam for now, and I need more ideas pls
