Agent 72 was walking down a hallway towards a security station in the facility. Recently, Chris has strangely disappeared for no apparent reason. He hasn't seen him in a couple of days. Agent 72 thought that he could have just been busy or something but it feels like there's more to this. Agent 72 had decided to check out Chris's office to see if he was there or not.
Agent 72 arrived at the entrance of the security station. He could see a few employees and guards looking at him strangely. The agent opened the door and entered. As he entered, he slowly walked up to a desk labelled "Reception" and looked at the female behind the desk. The female looked up from her computer and then seemed surprised when she noticed an anthropomorphic operative in front of her.
"Oh! Hello. Uh, how may I help you?" The woman asked the agent.
"Uhm... I-I'm trying to find a certain security guard. It's not urgent." The agent replied nervously.
A nearby security guard overheard what the agent had said and then approached them.
"You trying to find Chris Anderson?" The security guard asked. "I know you talk with him regularly."
"Oh! Uh yeah. Yeah, Chris." Agent 72 replied wondering how they know about their friendship.
"Ok so uhm... Chris... quit his job so... he doesn't work here anymore." The guard said.
Agent 72's heart sank to the bottom. He became shocked hearing that and did not want to believe it. "This can't be true right? I must have misheard what he said." The agent thought to himself.
"Wait. Chris quit his job?!" Agent 72 asked, "You said Chris Anderson right???"
He didn't want to think that he was indeed quitting his job. What happened? Multiple questions popped up in the agent's head. Why?
"Yes... Chris Anderson. He quit a couple of days ago. Something wrong?" The guard replied.
A moment of silence arose then the agent said "N-No... I'm good. Uhm... thank you." He then walked out still in shock.
Agent 72 walked down the hallway to his dorm. As he was walking, so much was going through his head.
"No no no no.... This can't be" He said to himself. "Why would he? Did I do something to him? No that can't be that. He's not like that."
He continued to ask and talk to himself as he continued to walk.
When he arrived at his dorm, he immediately opened the door, closed it behind him and sat on his bed. Agent 72 looked down with his hands supporting his head and began to tear up.
"I can't believe this. He's really gone. H-H-He... didn't even say goodbye." Agent 72 said to himself as he teared up even more. He missed him already. Chris was his only friend. Now he has none. Truly miserable.
The agent moved back a bit and sat against the wall on top of his bed with his legs close to him. The feeling of loneliness would consume him.
"This is my life...." He said to himself while crying alone. "I don't want this."
He would begin to think about the times he had with Chris... One of these was the first interaction he had with Chris. Chris Anderson respected the anthropomorphic operatives, unlike others who were mostly corrupt security guards. He especially appreciated Agent 72 and helped him multiple times when he first arrived.
Little did Agent 72 know, this maybe wasn't the end of their friendship.
