tw: capture, torture and betrayal

Nikolai walks over to Lena, his voice serious as he speaks. "Lena... I need to speak to you, if you have the time. It's a sensitive matter."
"Sure, Kol-" she catches herself — while they were on active duty, she had to watch the formalities. "Sure, sir. What is it?"
He raises his eyebrow a little at her blunder, but he leans in closer, lowering his voice. "I trust you, but you have to keep this between you and I. Do you understand? It's confidential and I don't want it spreading around camp..."
"Affirmative, sir," she murmurs, nodding her head.
"Okay. Listen up. There's a traitor in our ranks. I don't exactly know who it is," he confides, his words full of hesitation. He sighs, looking up at Lena, who's staring at him in shock; clearly, she didn't know, either.
"How did you know... sir? Have you... have you identified them?" she whispers, her eyes wide and her voice a little shaky. Never would she have guessed there'd be a traitor, the platoon seemed to be rather close knit, everyone knew everyone and they were all willing to lay their lives down for their fellow platoon mate, so this was coming as a huge shock.
Nikolai shakes his head, taking a deep breath and sighing. "Here's the thing. I noticed a lot of things, Lena, things that simply didn't add up. I found some documents, too," he says, disgusted. "I think I know who exactly it is. I need proof, though, so I can make a report and take action."
Lena thinks for a while, and when she speaks again, her voice is soft, and she's glancing around for eavesdroppers. "Um... do you... do you want my help in finding the evidence?"
His face lighting up, Nikolai nods. "That would be greatly appreciated, if you're willing to help me. But... it's risky, and I don't know- are you sure? If you want to, and only if you want to, it could help. I understand if you're not willing to."
She hears the hesitation in his voice, but nods her head, smiling slightly. "Of course I'm willing, sir. Who do you suspect is the traitor? I'll monitor them and find a way to collect the evidence for you."
There's some hesitation before Nikolai speaks again, as if he was trying to break the news gently. It was obviously someone Lena knew quite well, someone Lena wouldn't ever suspect. "It's... Viktor."
Lena's heart drops. Although it was true that they'd never been the closest of friends, he wasn't exactly a new soldier, and they'd been good friends for a while now. She takes a few moments to think through it, before she responds.
"Aye, sir... I'll be sure to keep an eye on him, try to get closer and get you that evidence..."
He nods. "Don't let him find out we know. Any and all evidence you manage to get will help greatly... Thank you. This means a lot."
"It's no problem. I'll do my best, sir."
"Be careful, Река. I don't know what Viktor is capable of, and I don't think it'll be as easy as telling him 'You're under arrest.' I don't think he'll go down without a fight, but... we need him for interrogations."
Lena smiles a little at the use of her callsign, despite the serious tone of her brother's words. He seems to lighten up a little as he sees his sister smile. She nods. "You're probably right. Give me a week, sir. I'll get you your evidence."
