5 years later

"Sweetie it's your 21st birthday you can't do nothing to celebrate tomorrow. It's a very important day in a person's life and in a werewolf's life as well."

I groaning internally at the thought. Most people just spent their birthday with booze and a very big headache. I wasn't in the mood for drunk humans running around throwing up on my birthday so I wanted to stay home and play games with my parents.

As for the werewolf part of the birthday, it's usually the time when a werewolf would find a mate. Not that I have anything against whoever mine might be, but I don't have time for stuff like that.

I have one main priority always, even when I'm busy working at the firm to help earn money, or when I'm supposed to be focusing on finding a mate. I still have to find that necromancer. He practically ruined my life as it is.

"Sweetie remember your pills it's almost eight o'clock."

Ah yes, the pills. That was another problem I had to endure for the past five years. As I said my mother sells potions to help with finances but she only started to have an interest after we found out the full extent of the curse that was put on me.

In our new neighborhood we moved in we found a local clinic with a witch selling herbs and potions to the more inhuman customers. When we found her I was practically half dead from the lack of sleep I was getting. Every time I fell asleep and I would dream something dreadful would happen, whether it was drowning in your own blood or seeing people you love being eaten by dogs I always woke up screaming with blood red eyes.

The color always stayed there for even minutes after I woke up. One time it even lasted an hour. Every time this happened I didn't even sleep for that long. When we told the witch what had happened she got to work and within two days she got a solution.

She made these small green balls that looked like marbles. When I took the first one and lay down I was sleeping within seconds with my head down. I woke up almost twenty minutes later with only very little sleep but at least I felt a bit better.

The witch told us that she made the marble to keep me from going into any sort of Rem sleep cycle. Rem sleep is the time when a person dreams and since I always had the problems when dreaming it made sense to stop it.

The only other problem was that I didn't have a lot of energy. I'm mostly a calm person and try not to do to much to drain my energy. I have to take the pills ever day at eight in the morning and eight in the afternoon.

They didn't taste like anything at least and I was very thankful for them even if I did lose my dreams and a lot of my ability to be myself again but I was alive and that was all that mattered.

"I'm going to Pansy's to get more of your pills and to get more herbs for the new potion I'm making. When I get back you better have chosen something to do for your birthday that doesn't involve being with your parents."

I rolled my eyes at the remark and stood up from where I was sitting on the couch and went to the kitchen. In one of our cupboards I always stashed away some of my favorite Oreos with chocolate coating.

I took the whole bag and went to sit on the couch again. I was alone in the house and the silence bothered me so I put on the TV to see what was showing. When a channel with friends showed up I kept it on for a while.

Thump.

My blood ran cold as I shut off the TV after hearing something fall upstairs. I had to convince myself that it was nothing, but wasn't this where someone dies in a horror film? I was debating whether to go when I realized that I was a supernatural being with claws and fast reflexes.
