I've barely walked into the office the next morning, a few people setting up their desks already, when Matthew strides across the floor and intercepts me before I get to my desk.
"Rosie, I'm glad you're finally here. I need to see you as a matter of urgency." He nods once, acting more formal than he has ever been in the last ten years and walks back to his office, shutting the door.
I watch him walk away, a little confused at his manner and when I glance around the office, eyes quickly move away from where I stand to focus on their computers again. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that there is possible gossip surrounding us already – I do seem to spend a lot of time in his office now. More so than I ever used to. He never used to pay me much attention, but now I'm the only one he calls into his office. Of course, someone was going to notice eventually.
"Rosie," his stern voice makes me jump and I look at him peering out of his office. "I am not a patient man and have things to do – get in here, now!" He slams the door shut and I do my best to ignore all the stares once more as I walk, hesitantly, to his office.
I open the door and close it softly behind me. When I look up at him, I am surprised that he is fully dressed and sat behind his desk as if we have actual business to attend to.
I take my time walking to the chair opposite him and sitting down. I don't quite know what to do or say so I place my hands in my lap and wait. I almost feel like I've been sent to the head teacher's office for bad behaviour.
Matthew watches me look at him and I feel more nervous the longer he says nothing. I give him a quick smile hoping he will say something, but he remains to sit there, in silence, no obvious expression on his face at all.
"Do you need something, Matthew?" I move forward and place my hands on the desk. "Some fun or relief of some kind?" I don't want to go down this route so soon in the morning but given that would be the only likely reason to call me in here, I might as well ask.
He smiles then and seems to relax. "Not at the moment, but it's nice to know how keen you are to please me." He reaches for something under his desk and places a small pot on top. "For you."
I give him a sideways look. "Uh, thanks?" I furrow my brow. "What's it for?"
He picks up the pot and stands, moving around the desk towards me. He motions for me to stand and guides me to the wall, pressing his body into me. "You feel that?" He shifts against me slightly and then I feel it.
"Yes." My voice comes out as a whisper, and I want to slap him in the face.
"I can't give you everything until we have some important documentations." He holds up the empty plastic pot and it dawns on me what it is for. "I need you to sort this and then hopefully tomorrow, the fun can begin properly."
I take the pot from him, despite the disgust I feel inside and try to move away from him, but it only encourages him more.
"You like that." He teases as he brushes the hair from my face and neck. "Very soon you'll be able to enjoy all of it. But, first this." He taps the top of the pot and it's then I realise I never made an appointment with a doctor for this.
I look back at him and push him back. "Where did you get this?" I shake the pot at him. "Because I don't have an appointment with a doctor yet."
"You do now." He says matter of fact. "I knew you hadn't sorted it yesterday, which is why I asked before you left in the evening and when you said you'd do it today I knew you probably wouldn't, so I called in a favour with a friend." He holds out a plastic bag. "When you're done, put it in here and seal it. Then I can drop them off."
