"And here we have Matt DeAlto, receiving the Medal of Compassion and Responsibility. Just a few months ago, he had sacrificed his time and energy to help send off one of our late historical figures, the renowned spiritualist, Lia the Wise." The director said. "The fact that he climbed the mountain with his heavy backpack and a makeshift casket in his hands at the crack of dawn is sheer compassion. His mind knew what to do, and he fulfilled this responsibility. That's why he's part of the 2009 MGEC Awards Ceremony."

"Mr. DeAlto, do you have anything to add? Any words of advice?" The director asked the awardee.

"Yes." He responded.

"Okay, go ahead." The Director said.

"I'm Matt DeAlto, and I am thankful to be here at this event today. To all the attendees and participants at this event, I'd like to share a word with you." Matt said to the crowd. "Anyone can be a hero. Nobody's a nobody; and whoever thinks that they're a nobody has the potential to become a somebody."

"Your past self wouldn't believe you've accomplished the things you have today. It's true. But there is a catch to becoming a somebody: if anyone can become a hero, then anyone can become a villain. The time is now to change your life for the better, it's do or die." Matt asserted. He had taken his first chance to help the populace, and it was good.

After the ceremony, Matt started planning. He was dreaming big, and he wasn't taking any of this "baby steps" crap. He wanted to become Maddsolia's president and avenge his past life. He was in the right place to start getting involved: Maddsolia's capital city. Maddsolia's next presidential election was in the summer of 2016.

This was perfect for Matt, as now he had seven years to prepare. He was thinking of this as he walked through the city, and stopped. There were MAF (Maddsolian Armed Forces) personnel holding an event to recruit future service members. Matt took the soldier position in the hopes that the military experience would make him a better candidate and a more patriotic citizen.

The next day, he returned to his residence back in Guardorign. He made a checklist of things to do before his basic training would begin in January of the next year. The first thing to do was sell his house, as he needed the money and didn't need a house because he'd be going to live in the barracks for a while. So, he put his home up for sale. The next thing to do was visit his parents at their retirement home in MCPS Empire, but travel was costly, so he had to find a quick job.

When Matt worked as an underwater basket weaver for a few weeks and went to visit his parents in MCPS Empire, his mind filled with anger. He visited them for a few weeks, but it wasn't the same as when he was a kid. They talked about various topics with him, one of which was the fact that the retirement home had created some sort of time travel scam to go back to "the good old days," and his parents were on the list.

He wasn't mad about his parents' decision to time travel: he believed his parents had the right to spend the end of life doing whatever they wanted. However, he was angry at the fact that this whole "time travel" thing would prevent him from ever seeing his parents again. He accepted this, and it was time to return to Maddsolia.
