Pairing: Hunter x Deaf/Hard of Hearing reader (established relationship)

It was very rare that the batch witnessed you going through a panic attack. Mostly because you hid and locked yourself in the 'fresher or just somewhere away from them. Also because Hunter typically helped you.

He could always sense when one was coming up, hearing your breathing and heart rate change, as well as your pulse.

Hunter knew it was difficult for you to be around large groups of people with your hearing aids in, knowing the many strange sounds likely confused you. He stayed by your side every time they were out, making sure you wouldn't get lost or end up overwhelmed, signing to you so you wouldn't feel lonely.

He knew how awful it felt to be overwhelmed, himself often having to move away from the group to calm his growing headache.

Today was supposed to be fun. The Bad Batch were just going through a local market of a planet to find swimsuits. They had discovered a hidden lake on that planet and decided to buy new swimwear.

Unfortunately, the town was incredibly crowded today. According to a local shopkeeper, it was a local holiday so everyone was out and about.

Hunter kept a close eye on you as the crowd thickened, his own senses becoming abit sensitive. You had assured him you were fine, signing a "don't worry" before continuing to look around the market stalls.

The sergeant watched you for a few moments before looking ahead, listening to whatever nonsense Tech and Wrecker were talking about.

Whatever holiday it was, Hunter really hated it.

He didn't think there would be fireworks.

Fireworks  did not get a good reaction out of three of the bad batchers; Hunter, with his enhanced senses, Echo, with some ptsd, and you, having a 'disability' and not being used to the sound.

The batch we heading back from the market at sundown, having ended up staying later than they thought. The second the boom of the fireworks was sounded you freaked out. Normally, you didn't really hear much noise other than voices. But that was loud.

You looked up at the sound of another boom, looking frantically for what could make that sound. You spotted what looked like an explosion in the sky and your breathing quickened, fear bubbling up inside of you.

Everyone around you was cheering and shouting and the sounds seemed to get louder and louder-

You turned towards the boys, wanting to tell Hunter you wanted to go back to the ship. However, none of them were there. Your eyes widened in horror as you spun around, desperately searching for your friends.

You could feel tears form as your breathing became more ragged and quick, familiar signs of a panic attack.

There were too many people.

Yeah, that had to be it.

Just get away from people and you'll be fine. Away from the noise.

Shakily, you darted off towards the nearest alleyway, leaning against the wall and sinking down to the floor. You could still hear the crowds, the booming, the loudness.

It was too loud.

You hastily removed your hearing aids, putting them in your pocket before curling up into a ball. You tried to do the breathing exercise Hunter had taught you, your heart beating too fast and your breaths too quick for you to focus.

You looked out the alley, searching for your friends, for Hunter, but found nothing. You could feel hot tears streaming down your face as you realized you were now completely alone, in a dark alleyway, surrounded by people who likely couldn't communicate with you. It struck you then that you had forgotten your notebook and pen, and you didn't have a datapad on you. You really couldn't communicate even if you tried.
