It is now about the time of the wedding to start and Cosette was the flower girl. Standing by the door the small girl couldn't help but fidget with the basket in her hands. To a 5 year old girl this place was scarily crowded by people.

She felt as if she might get stepped on.

Shaking her head she heard loud conversation throughout the room where the wedding would be held. All she could think about is all the eyes that would be glancing in her direction once the doors in front of her opened.

Sadly that occurrence was now happening, her tiny frame watched as the big corridor doors opened.

Taking in a deep breath she finally caught the courage to go in. As she walked down the aisle she would occasionally toss flowers left and right, ignoring all the stares she would be receiving from the audience.

As the time passed and she got near the front she went to a little area where she would be sitting.

Her piercing ice blue eyes caught a glimpse of her mother entering the room before some taller person stood in her line of sight.

  The vows were very boring.

She sat there for who knows how long trying so hard not to drift off. While that was the case she did occasionally zone out. Not like anyone noticed anyway. As she tiredly rubbed her eyes she couldn't help but cringe at the sight of her mother now kissing her new husband.

'Gross.' Was all Cosette thought as she scrunched up her face in disgust.

But reluctantly she smiled, happy that her mother was having a moment like this. She deserved it just not with a man like Roman. Cosette couldn't stop herself from covering her ears as everyone cheered for the newly wed.

As the commotion started to die down everyone gathered around for a small lunch feast. Cosette sitting beside her mother with the new in-law family. As her mother was walking away to get a drink Cosette couldn't help but notice a grin forming on their faces.

Curious, she stayed silent and didn't bother saying anything. Dinner passed by pretty quickly and everyone stared at Cosette's mother tensely as if analyzing her. Being the little kid she is, she glanced over at her mother seeing her showing them a card.

It read tag, tilting her head curiously as she spoke up.

"Mama? Why does the card say tag?" Cosette's soft small voice spoke up, scaring her mother for a moment before she chuckled lightly.

"Me and the other adults will be playing the game, how about you go outside and play with the neighbors. I'm sure they would be pleased to see you again." Her mother spoke, causing the young girl to intensely nod her head excitedly getting up and running out of the house to the next door neighbors house.

Cosette has been playing with the neighbor's kid some time now.

But their happy cheers and laughter were cut off with the sirens of ambulances and police cars pulling up to the house her mother was at. Furrowing her eyes in confusion she walked up to the house with the neighbor's.

"Mama?" Her small voice spoke up, not knowing what to do or what was even happening.

Before she could walk up to the house a police man stood in front of the little girl.

"Sorry but this is a current crime scene, miss can you get your daughter away from the orange tape?" Tearing up, Cosette glanced up at the officer only to hear the neighbor gasp as bodies in black bags were being brought out soon placed in the ambulances.

"Sorry Mister but she isn't my daughter, her mother was in that house." Trying to make a run for it Cosette ran up to the ambulances trying to find her mother only to get picked up by the same police officer, he had a look of pity on his face.

"I'm sorry, but your mother is no longer here." Tilting her head the small girl was confused. "But she was in the house?" "I understand that child but she didn't make it, we will have to take you to a nearby orphanage or one that will accept you."

At these words the small girl broke down wanting to see her mother knowing deep down that she probably wouldn't be able to.

The male slowly set her down not knowing what to do for the small girl.

Aimlessly looking around he tried to find the nearest officer who was associated with childs services. As he was looking the small girl stood there eagerly looking around for her mother yearning for her attention.

Off to the side of the building she could see a small boy having the same treatment as her, her tearing eyes averting off in the direction of the forest.

Unknowingly she made her way there undetected by anyone else.

Her icy blue eyes trailing the green grass under her feet. Her vision wasn't the best due to the many loose strands of her hair that framed her face. That and the water droplets that threatened to fall from her eyes. She didn't know where she was going but upon realizing that there was a pond on her right her walking stopped as she now looked up.

The woods stood right in front of her, turning her head behind her. She could see chaos erupting as people were yelling, screaming, crying and more. The small girl didn't quite understand what was happening back at the house but she did know that it wasn't any good.

Her mind was in a haze as she was arguing with herself.

Arguing if she should step foot in the woods or not. Taking a step closer she could feel her body jolt in fear as the sound of a gun rang through her ears. Someone had used a gun back at the house. In fact the only reason why she caught it was because it sounded as if there were multiple shots.

The silence back at the house became a reality as she could hear the howling of the wind.

Her teary eyes trailed back to the driveway wondering why it was so silent. But she saw nothing, all she could see was an ambulance with its flashing lights and the silence in the sky. No one was in her line of sight which was strange.

With a step she turned her body around involuntarily and slowly made her way to the silence.

After a few minutes of her slow walking she finally made it there only to feel her body freeze in fright, she was terrified at the scene before her.
