It was nothing like it was an ordinary morning on the Boiling Isles. Ever since that nasty Odalia had separated ways from her ex-husband, Alador, his fellow friend Darius had moved in to assist in raising the children.
The children consisted of Emira and Edric, the charming girl-boy twin pair who had green hair and an iconic mole. Their younger sister, Amity, had dyed her hair pink to match her father's Abomination color and she was dating Luz, a human from another world. Alador and Darius were like sour cream and onion, it was often implied that Darius had a crush on Alador, but they were childhood friends, and how could that change anything? They were like a match made in Titan heaven. But all of it changed, again and again.
It was early morning. The whole family went on with their procedures on usual mornings, Emira first coming down in a dainty manner and Edric following after her. He was very clumsy, so he would sometimes trip and rarely would he fall down the stairs and bring Emira down with him. Amity came down, thinking of Luz, and would sometimes forget she would be on the stairs. Alador came down afterwards, tired and in his small pajamas. Alador was always tired, it was not changing him. No matter how hard Alador tried to make him appear animated, one way or another he would be back to sleepy eyes within a day and a half. It was a cute thing to see, Darius pinching at Alador's below-eyes area.
"Come on," Darius would always beg and pinch. "Away from being sleepy!"
In the end, Alador would always push him away, but in secret or at night, they would sit together to put drops in Alador's below-eyes area.
But anyways, sleepy eyes were not the current problem.
"What are you doing today, Al?" Darius asked as he grabbed a small croissant. Pet names were growing common in the family, and it was commonplace to see it among the Blights.
"Could just be making Abominations in the lab again," Alador stared down and began to drink his cup of coffee.
"I wonder what me and Luz will do today," Amity muttered under her breath. She poked at the eggs on her plate, which was like trees in a flowing grass.
"It'll be fine, Mittens," Emira said as she stared deep at the plate. Ever since the magic of glyphs and Covens disappeared off the Isles, it felt different, almost difficult to adjust to. The magic was seemingly a part of the Isles, it was something that made the Isles what it was. But now that the magic and Covens were gone, it was just like what Luz had experienced in the human world. "After all, you're still attached to the human, after all."
"She's not just a human," Amity blushed a little. "She's my everything!" She stood up and hugged a wall. "I can just feel Luz's presence as I'm hugging this wall."
"Heya," Luz appeared behind her. Amity squealed and fell to the ground. The two of them were finally together. Luz was back, at least. She was visiting a human friend in nearby New York City, and she just returned back to Gravesfield last night.
"I missed you, Luz!" Amity said as the two of them cuddled together.
"Those two," Darius observed, as his tired eyes shifted to his regular, keen eyes. "I've been seeing them around more often, don't you think, Alador?"
"You think so? I only see Mittens puffed up like actual mittens," Alador widened his eyes as the coffee had transformed him. "She's a real kitten, I suppose."
"It's lucky to have three children," Darius turned. "I never had the chance to raise them as my own."
"Well, now you do," Alador rubbed Darius' hair. "It's time I tell you about the family."
"No, Alador, you've told me about them," Darius had explained. "Emira and Edric, the mischievous green-haired twins, and your young one Amity is dating a human. Have you not taught any more?"
"It feels better without her on my shoulders," Alador confessed, simply inhaling as he could get a breather. Of course, the two of them knew Odalia, Alador's ex-wife, had brought great misery into them. Well, not misery, but it was certainly something unpleasant.
After their morning routines, it was time for all of them to continue in their day. Alador would just still hang out in his basement lab, making Abomatons there and that, and then there would be Darius just observing him and the two of them would stay up all night, working like fire.
Not like Alador forgot what Darius did to him when they removed everyone's sigils. Darius shook him, and blushed before he slid away and crossed his arms. It was implied Darius liked Alador, hoping it would be a reciprocal. But things changed, and hopefully, Darius didn't have to wait or want a lot anymore.
"So, you have plans on what to do today?" Darius asked. "I'll probably go explore some more of the city."
"I told you, Darius," Alador said. "I'm working in the basement lab again."
"Oh, come on!" Darius complained playfully, as he hugged Alador's torso. Both of them blushed profusely. "I need you to do something non-Abomination today."
"You're an Abomination too," Alador said while the blush stayed on him. "At least, you need to do something with your Abomination figures."
"Me? I have mine sorted," Darius waved his fingers around. "I don't know what you're on about."
"I have my matters," Alador slipped on his glasses. "You have yours."
"Whatever you say," Darius slipped on his outdoor clothes. "You always have something on you."
"It's just how I am," Alador muttered as Darius left the house. He proceeded downstairs, into the basement.

It felt just like an eyeblink when everyone returned from their day, and was prepared to end the day together. Amity and Luz returned to the former's home, and they went upstairs to talk about their favorite book series, The Good Witch Azura.
Emira and Edric came home. They just explored most of the city, and there was not much they did. But they did come home in a drench of sweat. It was very hot that day.
Darius was the last one to come home. He was sweating everywhere, even in the boots, and they were very tight. It just proved how hot it was outside.
"Where is Alador?" Darius asked. "Is he still in the basement?" Why would Darius go look for Alador in all of this? He needed to shower. So, he went and took one.
After eleven minutes, Darius came back downstairs in a robe and slippers. The children were sitting at the dining table, preparing themselves for dinner. Darius turned and made his way towards the basement.
He suspected that Alador would be in the basement, making his one-thousandth Abomination figurine. Alador and Darius were in the same Abomination Coven when they were teenagers, so Darius could smell the icky Abomination goo from when he opened the door.
Darius proceeded downstairs in the small steps that slowly decreased in height the more he went. "Al, I'm back," Darius shouted as he continued down the stairs. "Come on, Al." It was only a few seconds before Alador groaned in tiredness.
Darius turned, dashed, and ran, and before he knew it, Alador was lying on the ground, covered in purple and white liquids. Of course, Darius recognized the purple liquid being Abomination goo, but he didn't know what the white liquid was.
"Alador...what's the white stuff?" Darius asked, as he was filled with concern.
