Chapter Two
Her heart couldn’t stop beating hard the last few days. Ever since her mother told her the news, she’d been scared, anxious, and nervous all at the same time. The only time she got to relax was when she was asleep. She couldn’t help it. The thought of Pax seeing her but not know it was her was enough to make her heart reel in pain.
How could she deal with seeing Pax happy with a woman that wasn’t her?
Her twin sister was evil. Pure evil. It was as if there something wrong with her until the point where she wanted to destroy her own twin sister’s life. If Ely was here, Allison would congratulate her because she did just that.
Ever since they were young Ely was always the one whining for a new toy, or a new dress. She always got what she wanted; Allison’s friend had once told her. Allison remembered when Ely didn’t get what she wanted. They were in their senior year and the new neighbor had just moved in. the neighbor was a married couple who had a son named Garret. Allison had befriended him and Ely wanted to be his friend too. But Garret didn’t want to be friends with Ely. Ely, of course, had gotten furious and tried to sabotage Allison and Garret’s friendship. To this day, Allison was grateful of Garret’s smart brain. He had saved their friendship.
The phone rang, jolting Allison out of her thoughts. The caller id showed ‘BFF’.
Speak of the devil.
Allison put the phone in her ear and said, “Hey, Garret.”
“’Sup, Ally!” Garret Wilfred’s voice could be heard loud and clear. “I missed you, Alls.”
Allison chuckled and took a moment to listen to her crazy best friend’s voice that she missed so much. Garret had once told Allison when they were ten that he wanted to work for a huge law firm as a lawyer. At the time, Allison had laughed it off. But that was exactly what happened to him.
“Aren’t supposed to be working?” Allison said, smiling.
“Don’t tell me you aren’t excited that I’m coming home.” Garret said in a fake sad tone.
“Of course I’m excited, dummy.” Allison giggled. “I’ve been waiting ages to hang out with you.”
For once in her life since it happened, Allison actually felt happy.
Then the doorbell rang and her happiness went down the drain. She braced herself and went out to greet the guests.
Thank God she had fallen asleep. He wasn’t sure that he’ll stand her insistence chatter that had been going nonstop since they got in the car. He looked over to the passenger seat and found her asleep. If they were still dating, he would’ve thought she was beautiful and cute with her mouth half opened and her eyelids fluttering once in a while. But now his thoughts were completely different. This wasn’t the woman he wanted to marry.
