Chapter 17: The Fight

"EVERYBODY GET IN A CIRCLE WE'RE PLAYING A GAME!" Gabby gathered everyone on the living room floor, where we all sat in a big circle and stared at each other. A couple people sat out, including Bulldog who appeared on the couch drinking some more. The room was loud and bustling, still filled with laughter and chatter. I spotted Pluto across the room, sitting next to Roger and Raptor. She made eye contact for a second and I looked away. I took a big swig of my drink, making sure she saw. And yeah, I know that me rubbing this in her face isn't the smartest thing for me to do. But mind you I'm on my third (wait... fourth...?) beer of the night so I think I get a free pass.

Gabby placed the bottle in the middle, and our circle split in half as some of them regrouped in their own circle, to make it smaller. She handed them a bottle too.

"So everyone knows the rules right? You spin the bottle, whoever it points to HAS to kiss whoever their spin on the bottle points to. If you don't wanna kiss anybody then sit out. After you kiss whoever it landed on the second time is supposed to sp-"

"Oh my God Gabby we know how to play, SPIN IT!" Roger lifted his beer in the air, and everyone else cheered. Gabby shot him a look and fell to her spot in the circle, leaning forward to start the game. My eyes drifted back to Pluto, who watched the bottle twirl. I wondered for a second what I would do if she kissed someone else. Was I drunk enough to get into a fight? I mean I fought Roger completely sober.

In the middle of my imaginary scenario, the bottle landed on DragonFruit who had appeared a couple people down from me. Everyone 'ooed' and some guys sat up and cleaned themselves up. Dragon spun the bottle, and it slowed to a stop at Ireland. Her face turned redder than was humanly possible. She dove behind Dragonfruit, who she was ironically sitting by. We all laughed while she coaxed her out. They gave a quick peck, which all the guys were disappointed by. The game continued. Raptor had to kiss some guy, who later had to kiss his homie. They got a little intense with it. Some random people kissed, kids I knew from school, kids I'd never met. Aspen, Pluto's friend from the Bonfire, had to kiss Pluto. I decided I wouldn't beat anyone up that night.

After a kiss with some random girl, it was Roger's turn. He rubbed his hands together, liking the game a little too much and spun it. We watched the bottle circle around a couple times, before finally stopping at Egghead.

Pluto and I immediately snapped to each other. Her "Oh crap" face plastered on. I mean this was bad, for Egg, but what were we supposed to do? We couldn't just stop the game. Maybe I could get Pluto to read my mind and she could fake a pregnancy.

Egg stared at the bottle. Roger looked up to him. Neither seemed to know what to do. The circle stayed in silence for a minute.

"Kiss Him!" Bulldog shouted from the couch.

The circle broke into a frenzy, chanting "Kiss him, kiss him!" I watched in horror and Roger shrugged it off and inched across the circle. Egghead froze in fear. His face slowly heated red, as Roger grew closer. The circle got louder and louder, Egg flipped to me and Pluto for help but we were frozen too.

Roger was to his face, Egghead bright red, leaning back as far as his arms would let him. I was stuck, couldn't help but couldn't look away. Roger was closer, right there, closing eyes when-

Egg collapsed and scrambled up the stairs. The crowd died out and sat in silence for a few moments. No one really understood what just happened.

"I'll go-"

"No, I should go." Roger stopped me, already standing up. The group began passing confused glances back and forth. I knew Roger shouldn't be the one to talk to Egg after that, in fact the worst person to, but it was too late to fix it. The group stayed in a quiet whisper until Gabby broke the silence to restart the game. The uproar began again and I slipped away to grab another drink.
