'You'll make some friends, won't you? And you needn't worry because all the ones who are trained will come and fight till their last breath. He won't be able to touch you.'
'So, you mean he will come again for me? Why me? Didn't the other Leaders have kids? Won't he chase them?'
'Well, as of now, yes. He'll come again for you. But we have been preparing for when he does. We aren't sure why it's you, though. Probably because Liam had the greatest number of powers, I suppose. Zadok probably thinks that you might have those powers too.'
'Also, I've a request. Could you keep my identity a secret? I mean- I don't think I'm ready to be known as Liam's daughter, yet.'
Laura gazed intensely in Laila's eyes, looking for something. Whatever she was after, she must've found because she tilted her head a moment later. 'You can't run away from who you are Laila. The Leaders already know. But if you want it that bad, we can make sure to not tell the Warriors. But when the time comes, you will have to tell everyone yourself.'
'I will. When I'm ready. When do you know that you'll stop getting more powers?'
'I have no idea.' Laura shrugged, readjusting her neck posture so it was straight again.
'Okay. What powers do you have?'
'Well, I can speak to animals, disapparate even when under enchantments, control or even hypnotize someone's mind, levitate objects, get things to teleport to me when I want them if they are within a hundred meters radius, and when I am in any place in this world, I can speak and understand the language within a few minutes of being there.'
'Then why did we walk all that way if you can disapparate?'
'Because you can't.'
'Valid enough.'
They reached the first landing where there were at least twelve chambers and went into the third chamber. The chamber was filled with kids who were a bit older than Laila and when they entered, all the heads turned their way. 'Does anybody know where Fedrick, the kid whom we recruited a few months ago, is?' Laura enquired and set down all their luggage.
'Yeah, he must be with the underage Warriors in chamber five, I saw him running crazy fast into it', said a red-haired girl, a head taller than Laila.
'Okay, call everyone for lunch, will you, Helena?'
'I will,' the girl replied and left.
'Everybody, come along', said Laura, and walked out of the chamber.
Laila thought that she'd better let everybody else go first because they all seemed older than her. One by one, the chamber cleared until only she and a blond-haired girl who seemed exactly Laila's age remained. 'So, you are the "Powerful recruit" that everyone's been talking about recruiting?' She asked, slowly approaching Laila.
'Guess I am. Didn't know I was already famous', replied Laila, with a smirk.
The stranger scoffed and walked out of the chamber. Laila already felt a strong dislike towards that girl. Then she remembered that she didn't know the place very well and ran out, hoping to follow her.
Laila found her just as she was descending the stairs and followed, as quiet as ashadow. The girl went into the humungous dining area and joined a group of girls sittingnearby. Laura was sitting at a table with a couple of older people whom sheconsidered to be some of the other Leaders. Again, as Laila entered, all theheads turned her way and she found everyone already gathered there. Laila stoodthere awkwardly at the entrance for a minute and then looked around at thefaces and saw Fedrick, sitting at a table with another boy, signaling to jointhem.
She felt relieved, she wouldn't have to join a table with bunch of awkward people staring her down and sat down at Fedrick's table. 'Thanks,' she whispered, all eyes still on her.
'It's all right.' Apparently, he'd recovered.
'Anyways, Nicholas, this is Laila, excellent at dragging people and has a very strong grip. And Laila, this is Nicholas or you could call him Nick- I do- he makes a good friend and is a pretty good listener too. Not to mention he an introvert.'
They both acknowledged each other with nods and stiff smiles.
Then the next few minutes straight, they all stuffed their mouths in complete silence, thinking of what to say next. Fedrick wanted to ask Laila if she knew where her chamber was, and Laila wanted to ask him if they had a telephone here- even though her mother was right here with her, she wanted to talk to Rosalie and hear Zoppy's loud barks again. Meanwhile, Nick was trying to guess Laila's powers.
Whenthey finished their lunch, they climbed the stairs again, led by Fedrick and reached the second landing and Fedrick said, 'So, the first floor was for Leaders and fully trained, the second floor is for the half-trained, the third for untrained and just-recruited and there's a fourth floor too, but I don't know why, though, it's kinda out-of-bounds.'
A/N: Lemon, hello! Highschool is hard. I've been stressed a little, lately. How was your day? This must've felt like a very short chapter, right? It was more than 800 words, though. No matter, I'll try to make it longer next time! No promises, though. Alright, I'll go now. 'Till next time! Bye!
