Sarah wakes up more nervous than she thought. She's meeting basically John B'a family today. How are they going to react? Will they like her?
She considers for a moment faking being sick or inflating John B's ego and say that she's too sore from yesterday. But she knows she will have to meet them anyway. If she loves John B she will have to deal with his friends.
It's just the fact that these people have been more important to him than anyone else up to this point. She's snapped out of her trance by her phone ringing.
"Hey!" John B says, when his face fills her screen.
"Uh Hey!" She tried to not sound anxious
"Sar what's up? What's wrong?" He sounds so worried it makes her smile
"I'm just a little nervous about today, no big deal." She says, knowing you can't build a relationship on lies.
"There's no need to be. They might give you shit about being my girlfriend and JJ might say something dumb about how the sex is but I swear he doesn't mean to be an ass, Kie will give him the look. And it'll be dropped. And Pope is weirdly polite so you're fine with him. Frankly they'll all just be happy that I'm happy again."
"Aww okay cool. Okay now do you want to help me pick out an outfit?" She asks.
"What do you got" he says, surprising Sarah in the process because she expected him to come up with an excuse to go or something.
"Okay there's this mini dress" she says holding up her first choice, "and this top and denim skirt."
"Hmm... the second one, cause it's a festival and you'll look amazing in it"
"Alright fabulous thank you John B, I love that now I have a personal fashion assistant."
"Don't get used to it babe."
"Oh I already am you are going to have to help me make all outfit choices from her on out." She giggles.
"I'm gonna be on my way soon, just so you know."
"Okay see you soon!"
She feels a lot better about today already. She's beginning to be excited about meeting his friends.
A few minutes later she hears a car horn honk in her driveway. "Bye dad!" She calls as she leaves the house.
"Hello m'lady" John B says as she gets in the car
"Hi." She says leaning over the console to kiss him. "So where we off to?"
"We're meeting the gang at the doc, where we will catch a ferry to the mainland and then go get lunch." He explains
"Fabulous."
They drive down the roads of their island, singing along to music, and just enjoying each others company.
The reach the docs and she sees the people she already knows are John B's friends. The anxiety comes back but John B takes her hand and says "it's okay. You got this, I'm here and if you really get uncomfortable we can leave."
"How I love you John B."
"I'm serious" he says as they get out of his car.
"Hey there's my man!" The blonde boy yells running over to give John B a big hug. "And you must be the lady," he says "I'm JJ, this beautiful lady right here is the amazing Kiara, but we call her Kie, and the quiet one back there is Pope."
"Nice to meet you all." She says.
"It's so nice to have another girl here, too much testosterone." Kie says, which makes Sarah giggle.
