You're the Right Person (So it's the Right Time)

Chapter 7

Sarah wakes up to her dad having to tell her something. She braces herself for bad news but the bad news doesn't actually come.

"Sar, I gotta go on a work trip so you'll have to be home alone for a few days." She notices it looks like he's mulling something over in his head before he speaks again "well... okay, I can't believe I'm suggesting this but I really don't want you to be home alone, so what if you stay with John B? You already spend so much time over there anyway and he's a good kid. I trust you guys."

"Wait really?!" She says flabbergasted at the fact her dad really just suggested she stay with her boyfriend for a few days.

"Yes really, you're 17 and you're a smart kid, and you're not dating a jackass so I have no reason to not trust you to do this Sar."

"Thank you I won't do anything stupid I promise!" She says hugging her dad. "Is it okay if John B comes over before we leave for our date tonight?"

"Yes that's fine by me, I also want to have a chat with him about this and lay down some ground rules."

"Alright sounds good thank you" grabbing her phone she shoots John B a quick text

'come over in 15, you can help me get ready plus my dad has something he wants to chat abt with you'

He responds shortly after 'sounds good I'm on my way!'

She smiles to her phone, "I am so lucky" she thinks to herself

A few minutes later she hears the doorbell ring and she rushes downstairs to open the door. When she sees him she throws her arms around him as he returns the sentiment.

"Alright kids" Ward says "John B i got something to talk to you about"

"What's going on?" John B asks trying not to sound worried but the goofy smile on his girlfriends face tells him he might want to hear this news

"So I am going to be out of town for a few days and I don't want Sarah to be home alone for that long so I was wondering if you would be fine letting Sarah stay with you. Now there are ground rules but I trust you enough to say this is a good idea"

"Wait actually?"

"Yes actually. You know you two are so alike you both had the same reaction."

"But yes, I wouldn't mind it one bit" he says putting his arm around Sarah's shoulders

"Good. Now ground rules, I don't want you guys to leave the house for anything but groceries, I don't want anything to happen, and please use your head don't do anything dumb, if anything bad happens, it's strike one, you two won't be able to spend as much time together anymore. Then comes strikes two and three you understand?"

"Yes dad"

"Yes sir" they say in unison

"Okay you two kids do whatever, but the door stays open"

"We got it dad" Sarah says as her and John B head upstairs

"Hey Sarah, can I ask you a question?" He says in a tone that's half worried and half flat

"Sure?" She replies sitting on the bed

"Why is it always you and your dad here?"

"Oh.. well.. okay we're doing this now" she starts playing with her nails and looking at her lap "well okay uh my dad kicked out Rafe last year after he stole from my dad to buy drugs and then lied about it, and Wheezie is with Rose right now they have been on some girls trip for months I don't know. I'm starting to think Rose up and left with Wheezie"
