"I was to go deep 'under' with HCI Global-the target was Blake Crawford; at least until Madeline Burke set her up. She poisoned the entire board of directors and installed herself as CEO. Things moved really fast after that."

"And you couldn't loop us into any of this; couldn't trust us?"

"That has nothing to do with it," she replied hollowly. "Of course, I trust you-trust the team-but Keaton refused to let me. That night? I wasn't sure when I would see you again; if I ever would and I couldn't stand that. He called me that morning to say that the mission was a go and I had to leave immediately-that's what that song and dance about CIA firing me was about. Remember what happened to Jane; that's ME if I disregarded his orders to keep my mouth shut. Reade: you KNOW ME; did Madeline 'turn' me?"
