Mingi and San texted one another for hours on end. They talked about their interests, school, pretty much their entire lives. It eventually got to the point where they decided to meet in person at a cafe near San's house the following day.
San set down his phone, already anticipating meeting Mingi and talking about his interesting predicament. He was already struggling to think about how to bring it up to Mingi. Would he even be able to help him? Or more importantly, would he even consider helping San in the first place? His thoughts were all over the place, so he decided to focus on those that weren't his own. He walked to his room and grabbed the notebook from underneath his bed.
After opening his notebook to the next clean page, San closed his eyes and thought about who he wanted to listen to first. Seonghwa was still at work, Yunho was in the next room over, and Wooyoung was hanging out with a new friend of his named Felix. San figured he'd begin there.
Woah... What a crazy story... Does Mingi really have superpowers?
San figured that Felix was talking about the story of Seonghwa's disappearance. Seonghwa never really told his brothers about the full situation from this past April, and he didn't intend to. They never asked him out of respect. It still hurt them, though, knowing that there was nothing they could do to help Seonghwa. Even San, who was constantly knowing what everyone around him was thinking and feeling, couldn't hear the thoughts of his oldest brother during that time.
San's thoughts began to wander and the pencil in his hand stopped moving. He could barely hear what his own thoughts were when eventually, Yunho's voice popped in like a jump scare in a horror film. San visibly flinched out of surprise before listening to what his brother was thinking of.
I wonder what San is doing right now... Poor San didn't have any time to hide the notebook when his brother burst through his door without warning. San jumped even more this time, shutting the notebook closed as quickly as possible.
"What are you doing?" Yunho asked, eyeing the notebook suspiciously. San gave him the most believable smile he could manage, trying his best to make it seem as though there was nothing going on.
"Just writing," San answered, straining his smile even further. He could both see and hear the apprehension from Yunho. He stood in the doorway with one eyebrow raised and watched while San continued to smile. Thankfully, he wasn't nearly as confrontational as Seonghwa and especially Wooyoung, so he decided to not push the topic any further.
"Do you want to go get coffee? There's a new place that just opened up and I'd like to go try it," Yunho said. He already had his wallet in his hand and San could tell that he had no choice but to go, unwillingly. He gave Yunho a nod before shoving his notebook back to its usual spot under the bed. His smile dropped as soon as Yunho was out of sight, not wanting coffee at all today.

San hated going out in public with his brothers.
He and Yunho stood at the register for the new coffee place Yunho talked about, looking at the drink menu. It took them some time to choose, but they eventually ordered. Yunho paid for their drinks, and they moved to the side in order to wait for their drinks, out of the way for the next person ordering.
San could barely hear Yunho as he rambled on about how awesome the interior design of the place is, especially since the baristas' thoughts were so loud. All he could hear was how they seemed to all have a huge crush on Yunho, which was something San was not interested in listening to. He gave an occasional nod to Yunho, trying his best to not listen to his brother's newest fangirls and fanboys.
When they got their drinks and sat down at a small table, the thoughts in San's head quieted down enough so that he could concentrate on Yunho talking. However, all he could think about was how he should tell Mingi about his secret tomorrow. San was also beginning to feel bad about telling a complete stranger before his own family. He was no longer paying attention to Yunho, and it showed.
"Earth to San? Are you listening at all?" Yunho asked while waving his hand in front of San's eyes. He had begun to notice his younger brother acting strange these last couple days but was sure it was nothing. Now, San was struggling to listen for ten minutes.
San nodded and gave him the same smile from earlier, but Yunho wasn't falling for it this time. He could hear it loud and clear. San let out a sigh and dropped his head, taking a sip of the iced americano Yunho bought him.
"Can I tell you something kind of crazy? I need you to promise me that you will not tell anyone about this," San said quietly. Yunho was now starting to grow worried for San, but agreed not to tell anyone nonetheless. San looked around nervously, not wanting anybody to hear what he was going to say. Then, he had an idea.
I can read minds, Yunho.
Yunho flinched in surprise, not expecting to hear his brother in his own thoughts. He looked around anxiously, and San could tell that he wasn't understanding. Yunho thought he was hearing things before he turned to San again, expecting San to say something completely different from what he heard.
"That was me, Yunho. I can read minds."
