It was getting late and I had to get going. I didn't live on my own and neither did I want to give Ethel the impression that I could do whatever I wanted just because she was nice to me.

"It's getting late." I announced.

"Yeah," Derrick drawled. "we need to get going."

We?

"Are you going to drop me off?"

"No, I'm going with you." He said as he moved into a room.

I assumed he was going to take me to the house but when he came out of his room wearing an oversized silver shirt and black jeans with white sneakers, I was curious.

"Why are you dressed like we're going clubbing?" I asked. His outfit reminded of when we went to the club almost every night.

"Because we are."

"I thought you were going to take me home."

"I wasn't. It's a Saturday night." He stated. "We need to get going. Gina just texted me that she's meeting us there."

Looking at the white and blue striped shirt and black trousers I was wearing, and the brown loafers I had, I wasn't sure I looked good for a club.

"Harry let's go! You look alright." Derrick called and went out the door. Grabbing my phone, I quickly put on my shoes and followed.

I could hear the music from outside as Derrick parked the car. I forgot how loud night clubs were especially on Saturdays.

I was for a moment blinded by the intensity of the coloured lights when we entered. Bodies were on the dancefloor moving energetically to the loud pop music. Derrick was already out of sight. That always happened before.

Standing by the door and trying to spot Derrick would be futile. I went to the bar closest to the door, sure that Derrick would come back to find me.

There was a larger bar closer to the big dancefloor. Not wanting to incur any unnecessary cost I decided not to order anything at the bar.

I sat and stared at the dancing crowd hoping to spot Derrick.

"Harry." I heard someone call and when I turned my head to where it came from, I saw Nikki walking towards me.

She looked stunning and definitely ready to party. Her spaghetti strap red dress ended right at her her knees. She had gotten her hair done in such a way that it was curly.

The moment she got to me she groaned and opened her purse, bringing out her phone.

"Hello." She talked loudly over the music.
"Yes, I'll be fine. We'll get home safe."
"Harry is here with me." She said.

I wondered who she was talking to. "Bye." Nikki said and put the phone back in her purse.

"It was Amanda! She wants to make sure I'm okay and that I take care of myself." A mixture of relief and gladness were evident in her voice and expression.

"Where is she?" I asked.

"Home. She has something to finish."

"Okay."

I was going to ask if she came alone when I saw Gina enter.

"Hey. Where's Derrick?" She asked me.

"I have no idea." My eyes roamed the club as I spoke and then I spotted him coming towards us. "He's coming."

"Hello ladies." Derrick sang. "I managed to get us a VIP spot and so," he stood in between Nikki and Gina, hooking his arms around theirs. "let's go party."
"You both look stunning by the way." He added.

I followed them across the floor and up the stairs to the VIP section. The dancefloor could be seen over the barricade the comfortable square black sofa was against.

Nikki was clearly in the mood as she moved swiftly to the music. Gina poured us drinks and before I knew it, I had let loose and was moving like Nikki was.

"Harry! Let's go down and dance!" Nikki yelled.

I finished the rest of what was in my glass and we went down together. We started of alone and then she threw her back against me, grabbing my hands and bringing it to her waist.

Coming to a club after that long felt new to me when we first got there but with how loose I felt, it seemed as though clubbing was something I've been doing  on a regular.

Eventually, the dancing pulled Nikki and me away from each other. I didn't see her until it was time to leave.

Derrick, Gina, Nikki and I left the club drunk. I don't know where Gina or Nikki went. They weren't with us when we got to Derrick's car.

I was barely conscious. Tired and wanting to just fall asleep, I opened the door to the back but it was shut.

"Where do you think you're going?" I heard Derrick ask.

"Home." I said, leaning against the car.

"You'll have to ger another car to take you home. I have company."

"Let him come." A female slurred from inside.

"There'd be no room for him."

"Awww."

"Don't worry. I got him a taxi to take him home." Derrick said. He clearly wasn't as drunk as I or the girl was.

I got into the backseat of the taxi and stretched my body across the seats. I had never gotten so drunk.

My eyes were shut but I couldn't sleep. My mind was harbouring the possible outcomes of Ethel seeing me this drunk. Maybe she would ask me to leave her house since Derrick is back now and I went clubbing without even informing her.

Or maybe she wouldn't want a drunk person sleeping on her sofa.

Or maybe... my thoughts were interrupted by the heavy tapping on my legs. It was the driver.

"We're here." His voice was stern. "Pay ne and get out."

I sat up took out a note from my pocket, I had no idea how much it was, and then I stumbled out of the car.

I thought it wise not to knock in Ethel's door but Amanda's. She knew I was at the club so she'd be less surprised about my state.

My perpetual knocking on the door, I'm sure was met with a glaring Amanda when the door opened.
